I was asked a question that I wasn't sure of the answer..if you are an owner at
Harborside Resort Atlantis are you able to use the Atlantis Facililtes? Do you get wristbands if so, how many? The owner will have a 3 bed 3 bath LO. Thanks for your help.

Yes, all guests at Harborside receive access to the Atlantis facilities. Each unit receives up to the number of registered guests in that unit (I'm not sure how many are permitted in a 3-bed, though I think it's around 10).

Yes, occupants of a 3BR villa get up to 10 wristbands for access to the Atlantis waterpark.

Take a room key to any towel hut and they will print out 1 wrist band for each registered guest.

Rather than start a new thread, I thought posting here would be more appropriate. My first visit is coming up in a couple months, and wondering what "extra" costs I can expect? I'm mostly concerned about energy fees, taxes, etc. that might be applicable.

I think that the only extra fees that you might not expect would be for internet. I forget the exact cost but I think that it is around $20. It is much improved now as the wifi works at many of the pools at Atlantis. You can use multiple devices but I forget how many (I think it is 4 or 5).

If you want your room cleaned more than once per week you will also pay extra. The restaurants cost more than most people expect their first time to Atlantis. Even water and beer from the grocery and liquor store are more. If you do go to the grocery store, you can expect to pay about 50% or more than in the US.

More importantly, have fun!!!

Yeah, the $20 sounds about right as that is what I had found out. I am actually considering foodstoretogo and having food delivered to save the hassle. I have also been doing some research and plan to bring any food I can. Seems although meat and plant products are "prohibited" according to a customs website I found, know people do it. It seems however that if I ask in advance from the ministry of agriculture they can give permission for me to bring stuff in so I may attempt to do that.

I am so looking forward to this one, as it has been on my bucket list for years. There is no doubt that I will enjoy myself. Grand Cayman was great, but this will be a whole new experience.

We have used foodstore2go on our last 3 trips. They do a very good job. They are timely and professional. The prices are very similar to what you would pay at the grocery store. I actually find the produce to be of slightly better quality from foodstore2go than at the actual grocery store.

You will enjoy your time in Atlantis. I would recommend that you plan to spend 1/2 a day each of your first two days there just to walk around and get to know the layout. After that you will have seen just about everything and you can know where you will want to hang out.

If you are up for an excursion, I would highly recommend Powerboat Adventures. If you have some extra time then you will want to do their overnight trip. We have done this about 7 times over the past 5 years and it is one of if not our favorite each year.

Check out what they charge the daily visitors from the cruise ships:

^^^ Not just for cruise ship visitors. Prices are for anyone not staying at HRA or Atlantis.

Let's see. A 3-br sleeps 10. Each wristband gets you into Aquaventure. It's $125 per person per day to buy a wristband that gets you into Aquaventure. There are 7 days in the week. ($125 X 10 X 7 = $8,750)

I own a Plat 3-br at HRA. The 2013 yearly MF for a 3-br at HRA is $3,110.57 (including the $125 SVN and II fee).

What a deal! I'm making money like crazy! Fuzzy math is so cool! :D Salty

Your MF statement has a breakdown showing what you pay to Atlantis Resort (effectively for those wristbands).

Here is a paste from the MF thread.

Vacation ownership assessment $955.20 ($929.37)
Condo common assessment $344.09 ($395.57)
Atlantis facilities fee $208.98 ($202.66)

Harborside II

2012 Ownership Assessment $1858.74
2012 Condo Common Assessment $ 791.13

I always wonder who covers the cost of running those shuttle buses all day long. That's got to be big bucks.

"the grand frick'n ripoff $3150.17 " for 2012

$49.50 less for 2013. Looks like I'll be making even more money this year! lol!

The fuzzy math at least shows why the MFs at HRA for a 3-br are $3K rather than around $2K. Even with the rental agent fee taken out, for 2012 I netted over $6K in rent to me for my 3-br.

I really don't consider it such a "grand frick'n ripoff" if I can recoup my MF and make another $3K to spend elsewhere. Salty

I'd agree, they were pastes from the MF thread, not my words. :D

I love it. I need to buy a 3BR too. I do feel like I am getting a good value for my MF everytime I am at HRA and I see the cruise ship people paying $100+ per day per person to spend a few hours in a place that we have come to take for granted.

Gee! Since you have control over your mouse for "cut and pastes" (and control over the "delete" button, too) and you included the comment with the HRA MF numbers, I thought you had a reason for the inclusion the words - like agreeing with the language used or thinking the comment was somehow cute. I revised my post to include it in quotes.
HRA including admission fee certainly improves VFM for the MF.

A deletion with "..." to signify the deletion would have sufficed. Salty

Even better - Comfort Suites

A little known secret (maybe not secret at all, but I recently found out) is that you can stay at Comfort Suites next to Atlantis. If you stay there, you also get access to Atlantis.

I stayed there a few years ago for a birthday celebration. One of the guests with us is an owner at Atlantis, but she stayed with us. Each day we went to the guest services desk at Atlantis and got our wristbands.

This is a fantastic option for those who want to visit Atlantis but who cannot afford the high cost of staying there, or who are not timeshare owners or traders.

Plus, we had a full breakfast included daily.

The beauty of it is that you do not have to be an owner or trader to stay at Harborside - you can always rent from an owner via RedWeek or other similar sites.

I am not sure how Comfort Suites compares to the rooms and amenities at Harborside.

Plus, we had a full breakfast included daily.

That you will not get by renting from an owner and staying at Harborside :)

I always wonder who covers the cost of running those shuttle buses all day long. That's got to be big bucks.

Owners pay for Harborside buses, naturally.

This year I've noticed a lag in bus frequency, after digging for some info I was told the budget planners axed out two buses this year.
On previous occasions bus frequency was 8-10 mins, these days it's more like 15 mins. At least twice we ended up waiting for over 20 mins.
In addition bus drivers take an initiative to drop people off by their building instead of the reception. It wasn't raining, and people coming out of the bus didn't seem to have any special needs.
No major issue but waiting for 20 mins to get on the bus can put a damper on ones vacation.

But, the 4 Comfort Inn guests get breakfast and don't have to stay for 7 days. The 4 HRA premium 1-br guests get to cook it in their kitchen, but might have to purchase the unit.

I love fuzzy math! :D Salty

It doesn't work out for a week nor would it be comfortable for a family of 4 for 7 days but if you just need a night or two to adjust your arrival/departure day to make the airfare more reasonable or you want to use it as for a day on a cruise stop it is certainly easier and less expensive than renting a day at Harborside and works out to the same or less than getting 4 day passes.
