I know that a one bedroom premium unit sleeps up to 5 at Harborside. My question is, does the renter/guest have to pay for this in additon to the rental price or is it included when an owner requests it?
Thank you for the information.

Thank you for the information.

I believe this is a charge by the resort if you add a rollaway so technically it will be charged to the renter. Of course the renter is free to negotiate with the owner to take a lower rent amount up front. IMO this should be like the internet charge - if a renter uses something the resort charges for they should pay for it (excluding housekeeping).

Overall I think it's a tiny charge like $5/night or $35 for the week (you can call owner services to confirm this number) - not a big deal either way considering the cost to rent an HRA week...

dogwood, ... The premium 1-brs at Harborside have sufficient room for a crib or roll-away bed to be put in the unit. The ordinary sleeping arrangements are a king bed and a queen sleeper sofa. (You can squeeze a crib into the deluxe (smaller) 1-br but it is very tight and I don't think they will allow it if that means 5 persons will be in the smaller unit.)

Cribs and roll-away beds are limited and subject to availability. The charge for a crib was $10 for the week when I was there a year ago. I have never had a need for a roll-away bed. Call the Harborside front desk to make any arrangements. The phone number is posted below.

Q: What documents do I need to travel from the U.S. to the Bahamas?

A: Effective December 31, 2005, anyone traveling to the Bahamas must have passports for every member of their traveling party for entry, including small children and babies. All visitors should carry a passport while vacationing. Citizens of any country other than the U.S. should follow U.S. travel regulations. For more information, click here to visit the U.S. Department of State website.
Possession of proper documentation is the responsibility of the passenger. Each passenger must have a valid passport. Failure to provide the air carrier or governmental officials with necessary documents will lead to denial of boarding, in which case there shall be no obligation to board the affected passenger or to provide any alternate transportation. Failure to provide such documentation may result in automatic flight cancellation without right to a refund.

Q: What do I need for departure from the Bahamas?

A: You should check in at the airport at least two hours prior to departure time. This will allow time for the ticketing, check-in, immigrations and customs processes. The departure tax for The Bahamas is included in the cost of your airline ticket.

U.S. citizens can avoid long lines at U.S. airports by going through U.S. Customs pre-clearance. When you leave The Bahamas, you will be required to complete and sign a U.S. Customs Declaration. One declaration is required per family leaving the country. To facilitate processing, you should have a list of items you have purchased and all receipts readily available.

Q: May I bring groceries from home to the Bahamas?

A: You may bring groceries from home; however, you will be required to pay a duty or tariff when you go through Bahamian Customs upon arrival in Nassau.

We do not recommend bringing fresh and frozen meat products or other refrigerated goods from the store. The resort is not equipped to refrigerate these goods and cannot guarantee that your villa will be available prior to check-in. Be aware that liquors and meats will have a very high duty cost, but snacks such as chips, cookies, candies and sodas will carry a lower duty cost.

The Bahamian Government does not allow fruits and vegetables to be brought in from the United States. (See note at end.)

Q: How do I arrange for a crib and/or rollaway bed for our villa?

A: Cribs and rollaway/aero beds are available, but are limited in quantity. If you need a crib or rollaway bed, it is recommended that you request it prior to your arrival at the resort. To make a request online, locate the Reservations Special Request Form in the Reservations section of this website. Please note that requests will be met on a first-come, first-served basis and rollaway beds are not allowed in all villa types. "

Don't worry about the tariff or duty if you bring some food with you. I've never seen anyone check the bags. The more important thing is to bring money and plastic with a rather high limit. The Bahamas is an expensive place to vacation even after you arrange for accommodations and air fare.

Enjoy your trip. Harborside at Atlantis is quite a place! ... eom
