Harborside Cancelled re-Ike

Hey everyone. We were originally scheduled to check in on Saturday and canceled because of the Ike threat. However, things are looking better and we are actually going to fly down tomorrow and cross our fingers that the weather improves by mid-week. Ike looks like it will miss Paradise Island, but it will probably be pretty rainy until Wed. or so. I'll try to report back here with conditions if we make it there!

Hey everyone. We made it to Harborside Atlantis on Monday and indeed, the hurricane missed this area and although the first two days were cloudy and windy, by today, the weather has already been quite good - lots of clouds, but also lots of sun and very warm. This is our first time here and we love it so far. Lots of things to do with our 2 kids (3 and 1 years old) and also for us - plus, it feels very empty, which means there's no wait for anything, you get your pick of places at the pools/beaches and everyone is very happy to help us with great service. I can imagine that it would be much more crowded in the summer.

For those of you planning to come this week, unless another storm comes, you should be in for great weather and a great time!

Great news! We're looking forward to arriving Sunday afternoon. I'll watch for you on the web-cam!

Hope to see you there, too! I'll be in a group of 7 with my husband, 17-yr old son, 2 married daughters and their hubbies and grandbaby Wes. Our spot to hang out will probably be at the lazy river entrance near the Splashers children's pool. If you see us, come say hi!

I will be heading to the airport in 8 hours....see ya there :hi:

Ike is still trying to make my vacation difficult. I fly standby because I work for an airline and can fly for free. It can be nerve wracking and I'm checking on my flights several times a day. I BOUGHT tickets for my daughter & son-in-law because I didn't want to have to worry about their flights as well as mine. Well, they're supposed to be flying Continental through Houston on Saturday, but their flight has been cancelled because of the hurricane. Right now they're rescheduled for an early Monday morning flight. So frustrating!

Oh no... do u feel as if Ike is following you????

I am at the Jet Blue terminal at JFK right now - flight status is ontime...but I am meeting TUGer Maria P at the airport - she is flying continental - hope her connection doesn't get delayed!

Well, we all got there and back. Daughter #2 and her hubby were supposed to fly on guest passes on Monday night, but flights were full because of Ike and we had to buy last-minute tickets for them to get there on Wednesday. Fortunately, we found tix for $158 each. Downright affordable!

Fabulous trip. Weather was great. One really great rainstorm and a couple of smaller ones. Only one day was somewhat crowded. The units were showing their age. Hair dryer was broken, one of the outlets in the bathroom didn't work. Shower door didn't close properly. Little stuff. When housekeeping left after the mid-week cleaning the place smelled like a dirty rag. Don't know what that was about, but the smell was gone by the time we returned a few hours later.

Had a great meal at Carmine's, with enough leftovers for another meal. Haagen Dazs has become Ben & Jerry's and re-opened while we were there. Both of my sons-in-law are photogs and took some incredible pictures. I'll post a link when they've got them up.
