I am thinking of renting a 1 bedroom deluxe villa at Harborside. The unit is located in Phase I. Is it really big enough for a family of four with two adults and two children 10 and 13? I understand this is the smaller 1 bedroom and they will not give you a cot. I will need to bring a twin aerobed. Is there room? How is the storage in the unit?

Any and all feedback is appreciated!

Here is the floor plan - for future reference you can find floor plans under Resort Information in Owner Resources at the top of the board.

It's only 557 square feet - that's not much room for 2 adults and 2 kids the age of yours. How much "togetherness" can you stand? :D

There's enough space, but you might want to ask for a corner unit from the person who is renting to you (to have him/her ask for a corner). A little more space. It will be cozy, that's for sure. The bigger one bedroom has barely enough space for the pull out bed and a rollaway bed. The storage in the bigger one bedroom was fine. There's a huge closet in the bathroom.

Thanks! How is the corner 1 bedroom different from the regular deluxe 1 bedroom? Do you know if there is a dresser in the bedroom? I appreciate the help!

Linger, ... My 3-br lockoff in Phase II splits into a 1-br and a 2-br. In Phase II, the 1-br lockoffs for a 3-br unit are on the corners of the buildings. The 1-br lockoffs of a 2-br in Phase II (or Phase I) are in the middle of the building block and have a juliette balconies. Nothing bigger in the corners. The "corner" 1-brs in Phase II have an actual balcony.

Also, I think the "corner" 1-brs are a tad larger because they are wedge shaped. Two of them for each corner. They might also be a little better in terms of equipment, i.e. a king bed (I think).

I tried to get 2 "corner" units in Phase II for a stay with our stay with our daughter's family (1yr. old kid) last December. I was given 2 non-corner units in Phase I instead. I was told that my smaller, non-balconied units had a better view. They did. They were right next to each other (non-connecting) and looked right over the marina at the casino. We were happy. Enjoy your stay. :) ... eom

First, I think you should be fine. We just did Harborside in a smaller one bedroom with another couple. It was cozy but fine. There's plenty of time being spent outside the room so not bad. Given you're talking about a single family, you should be fine. Although, maybe it's just me. My family did not grow up timesharing and most of our vacations were spent the four of us in a single hotel room...or even worse, single cruise berth. This is how MANY American families still vacation....I think all of us here have been a bit spoiled by timeshares. :D

Second, I do have to add that we were fortunate enough to be in a corner unit. Aside from a few extra square feet, the corner units also get a balcony...that definitely helps and just made it feel a bit larger. Unfortunately these are only in Phase II and I think they are a difficult request to get granted.

Bottom line...it's Atlantis. You'll be fine if you just focus on the wonderful resort and weather.

Lingber, ... Any Starwood deluxe 1-br would be a little tight on space if both the sleeper sofa and a cot are used at the same time.

Harborside will rent you a cot for $10 (I think) for the entire week - assuming one is available. High chairs are also available. Call Owner Services at Harborside using the mystarcentral telephone number for the resort when you get your reservation ID number. Our 1 year old granddaughter found them comfortable. My concerned, careful daughter declared them well-built and safe.

There is space to set up the cot in either the living area or between that area and the kitchen area. But, when the cot and the sleeper sofa (and a high chair) are in use, maneuvering around may be a bit of a problem. My daughter put the cot in the bedroom and it took up a lot of space in the bedroom.

But, we all survived and had a great time. :) ... eom

I absolutely agree. We have taken an air mattress and that seems to work a lot better in the space. Plus you can deflate it every morning so not to take up space.

I agree, request a Corner Villa. These are BIT larger and offer FULL balconies with table and chairs. Regular 1 BR Deluxe Villas only offer a French Patio...just enough room for you to stand on.
