My daughter wants me to add her to my Harborside deeds, which is a great idea. I know we need a Bahamas attorney for this. Can anyone recommend someone? I'm not transferring ownership or changing anything else. I want to find someone who can handle it and not mess up the process with Marriott/Vistana. She's going to pay the $5000 for each week to accomplish this.

$5,000/week just to add a name to a deed? @suzannesimon, I think the lawyer’s fees to do the whole transfer process is around $2,000.

Here’s a TUG thread with a Bahamian attorney’s name. Post #18 - “I contacted the Bahamian lawyer that handles Harborside title transfers (William Pilcher) and he sent me a email with the steps and details. It is $1761 for each deed and it can be completed electronically - no need to be in person. I attached the transfer sheet he attached to email…

What is the added benefit of spending $2000 to do this? What does your daughter intend to accomplish? Guest name changes are free.

If you add her to the deed, you are transferring ownership; that's what deeds do.

What are you trying to accomplish?

I would say you are "sharing" ownership. If the daughter wants to inherit these timeshares, I see nothing wrong with doing it now.

I have 10 weeks. Only 2 are at Harborside. My daughter’s friend was having fits because her mother died and getting the timeshare transferred to the heirs is a nightmare. My daughter’s friend told her to get on the deeds now which is fine with me. I was hoping someone else would have to handle this instead of me however. I am 76 and have been handling everything fine but that won’t be the case forever. I’ve spent 2 full days copying deeds and other paperwork for the attorney and Title company. I’m mostly worried that this process will mess up my current reservations though Marriott claims it won’t.

I guess as long as your daughter clearly understands how timeshares work and the Harborside burden
  • the extremely high and increasing annual maintenance fees,
  • no resale value and hard to get rid of (more supply than demand)

She already owns two 3-bedrooms there and gets $1000+ over maintenance so she knows the deal.
