We just completed a purchase of a two-bedroom odd-year unit at the Sands of Kahana (Lahaina district) and couldn't be more pleased. Every other year is just right for us, and we chose the Sands because we just completed a stay there (trade through RCI) and really liked it. But the best part is that we were able to find the right place for us for only $1 - plus transfer ($200) and title ($200) fees, of course. And where did we find this bargain? Why in a TUG bargain basement ad, of course.

And if that wasn't enough, on our way home from our airport I got into a conversation with the Shuttle driver. He and his wife are also Maui fans and are looking for another week. He was familiar with the resale market (EBAY), but had never heard of TUG! He was planning on paying up to $2000 for a week, and when I told him what I found and where I found it, he was understandably overjoyed. And of course eager to finish his shift so he could get home and check out TUG!

Congrats! Great deal! Enjoy!

We got our first timeshare week through the developer, the 2nd through RedWeek, and the 3rd through TUG. Guess which one was the lowest price and easiest transaction, by far?

Nice work! Nice place, too. :)

I own at the Sands since 2008. Yes, nice place. Not a Marriott but lower MF. I thought that the transfer fee was $525, but perhaps the seller paid part. You got a good price.

BTW, there is a group called the Sands of Kahana Concerned Owners. I think that the website is www.sokco.info

They are an independent owner group that wants to preserve the value and beauty of the property. I believe that they have been a catalyst in getting attention to some issues. So, they are helping to make sure that the squeaky wheel is getting some attention. I encourage you to join. I also encourage you to vote in the annual election. Keep in mind that the management company has populated the board of directors primarily with its employees or employees of affiliates. So, make sure that you vote in the annual election and NOT assign your proxy to the vacation club to vote "for you".

PM me if you have questions.

Well this thread just started the day off great! So happy that you found exactly what you wanted from an existing owner who was giving it away....and topped it off by sharing TUG with another timeshare owner!

outstanding!

Pool icy cold

We stayed at the Sands of Kahana taking two penthouse units over Christmas 2103 for ourselves and married children and grandchildren. The weather was windy and rained some and the pool was uncomfortably cold. We resolved that we would not rent there again even though we liked the units themselves.
