I am scheduled for but seriously considering canceling, surgery for carpel tunnel,a multi focal ganglion cyst and duputrens contracture.
It is my right hand, it went from local anesthesia and driving myself home to general anesthesia , weeks of therapy, and no promises of improvement.
While waiting for my appointment, a woman with a different surgeon shared having major problems after hand surgery.
The ganglion is what is causing the bulk of my pain, and neither surgeon I saw wants to deal with just that. Both are anxious to do carpel tunnel surgery. Apparently the cyst is broken up into about eight parts, band it’s not a simple matter to excise.
If I have the surgery, in addition to problems taking care of myself while it’s heal, I will have to give up golf and bocce for awhile. And I am concerned by the time I heal, I won’t be able to do those activities any more.
Anyone with experiences they can share? Real time to heals? One surgeon kept saying just two days, drive yourself home, etc, just too far fetched to believe.
