Can anyone tell me about this resort? Golf on-site or close by? New, old, good, bad? Restaurants on site, pools? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Vicky

There are a number of reviews on this property with lots of good information in the TUG reviews. Just click on TUG Resort Databases on the red bar across the top of this page, sign in, click on resort reviews, choose Mexico, and then Baja California. Scroll down to resort #9.

Thanks Karen. I looked at the reviews - I was just hoping I could get information first hand from someone who has been there or owns there. It is offered on the "Rentals Offered" section, and unfortunately the owners just bought last year and have not had the chance to go there yet.

Vicky, if you search the forums (not just the reviews section) you'll find many threads about HDM in Cabo. The text below is quoted from a reply I made to a post in August:

"I've stayed at Hacienda Del Mar, and my brother owns there. It's an excellent choice for older visitors who want to enjoy some quiet luxury without all the pounding nightlife noise closer to town. It felt like pretty "traditional Mexican" decor to me, and the garden-like grounds are beautiful. Five swimming pools, good restaurants, health spa, and great accommodations are on-site. Most buildings are only three stories high, so stairclimbing would be minimal, if they were placed on a lower floor. And since your folks will have a car, getting into town for shopping, restaurants, or other activities wouldn't be a problem. Bonus: There is excellent golf right next door at a Jack Nicklaus course, too.

Check the photo gallery on their website: http://www.haciendadelmar.com.mx
"

The resort is really nice, if you want nice-but-not-too-fancy accommodations. If you want over-the-top, there are better places to stay. But I had no complaints at all for the week I stayed there, and my brother and sister-in-law love their unit there. If you'll have smaller children, they may not find a lot to do there. Older children and adults will have a fine time.

Note that the beach is not swimmable. But with five swimming pools and a rotating progressive Happy Hour schedule at each pool, who needs the ocean? LOL! :)

Hope this helps,
Dave

Thanks Dave,

We went ahead and rented today - and can't wait to get there. It sounds like just what we are looking for - can you tell me if they have golf on-site. I couldn't find that in the reviews or the website, but then maybe I just overlooked it. Thanks again.

Vicky, we bought at this resort in 2007 and stayed there this last April. It was beautiful! My husband played both courses next to the resort. "Ocean" and "Desert" they are world class golf resorts designed by Jack Nicklaus. Rated as one of the best courses in Mexico. You could walk there from the resort or the shuttle will take you to the clubhouse. The pools and grounds are absolutley beautiful! Especially the infinety pool on the ocean front. That is where we spent most of our time. You could watch the whales right from the pool. There are several options for restaurants right on the resort. There is also a Costco close by (about 10 min drive) We have a washer and dryer in our room which came in handy. Highly recommended!
