My grandkids are allowed much less TV time than my kids. As long as they were watching something like Sesame Street or a Disney movie I often let them watch. My grandkids, who are under 5, get very limited screen time, either TV or IPad.

Grandkids are more advanced in knowing alphabet, shapes and other beginning concepts than my kids were at the same age. They go to a group daycare 3 days a week and spend 2 days with me and grandpa, while mine were at an in home daycare daily. They got loving care and became good friends with the carer's kids, but didn't spend as much time on learning concepts as they do in the group setting.

More restrictions on sweets than we enforced. My kids ate healthy but I was more lenient with things like cookies.

My son did not have a 47” color television in his bedroom, his own telephone, with a connecting full-size bathroom, plus a computer, plus all the electronic console games . Wow! I did not have any of those things when I was growing up.

Plus, my grandchildren have their own Apple IPADs and their on Apple cellphones. My grandson and granddaughter are blessed and are well mannered grandchildren.

Both are college graduates and one is a Lieutenant in the Coast Guard.
Both are debt free from college. No loans, both were on academic scholarships.

Time out kids are going to be a problem in the future
No real consequence to an action

They will just be getting out of there booster seats in time to start learning how to drive

The immersion in activities is deeper today with our grandkids than our daughters had. They do dance and sports like our daughters did but it’s more intense with multiple days a week and spending hours at their practices.
It’s a lot more pressure to excel but to what end?! Very few will get scholarships or become “professionals “ with this extra pressure and intensity. Let them be kids and have fun!

My grandkids eat ALOT more fresh fruits
This is true, we started buying fruit for the grandson to have for snacks at one and he still has an apple, mandarin, and some grapes for snack after school. We are doing the same with the granddaughter, she likes the grapes and mandarins so far. We didn't keep much fruit around when our kids were young, just some occasional grapes or cherries.

They won't be driving. The parents understand the risks involved and won't want to chance it.

They will be in Yakima, lol. Drivings a bummer in Seattle.

One no other difference I’ve noticed…teaching them to ride a bike. I taught our kids…and I also taught my grandkids! Parents don’t do that anymore?!

The level of competition is what one pursues

Our little girl was maybe 4, we took her to a local dance studio. After the 2nd day they we were told that she just doesn’t have it 🤷‍♂️
Not what we want to be involved in I’m afraid.
Traveling teams and such, not for us.

She Danced, and my boys played sports
Just at a standard level

If you’re going to be a standout it will Serface naturally and can hone in on it. It’s important to have them involved, lessons in life taught thru hard work and perseverance
