I just got home from Grande Vista - stayed in Building 82. The villa was beautifully refurbished. The decore is very nice. Granite, stainless, nice fixtures.
Now if only they could get the elevators to not smell like gasoline and rubber, that would be great.

Never had a problem with bad odors in the elevators. Not sure what the cause would be. Did you raise this issue with the staff at Grande Vista?

Thanks for the update on a refurbished building. :hi: Since I'm not an owner at Grand Vista (just exchanging in for January), I can live with the bad odors in the elevators. ;)

Cheers

We also noticed the gasoline smell in the elevators last March when we were there. Had hoped it was a temporary situation.

I have a very sensitive nose, and I've never noticed a smell in the elevators (and we go every year). Is this specific to building 82? We only stay in 91 or 92.

I didn't notice the smell when we were there... our unit in 84 did not have stainless appliances.. it was really nice though.. one gripe.. is the water pressure in the shower always that bad?

We'll be at Grand Vista at end of Oct in a 3br lockoff unit. Does anyone know which bldgs near the Copa Loca have been recently refurbished (<2yr)? Are 3br units all on top floors? Any recommendations? Traveling w/4yr old grandaughter, so would like to be near pool area.

I spoke with someone at MGV earlier this year and they gave me this information. During 2010 buildings 84, 85, 86, 83, 79 & 82 were scheduled to be refurbished. Buildings 96,97, 98, 99, & 100 were scheduled for the fall of 2011. I don't know if all this was done on the time schedule that was given to me. I'm sure others can confirm if it is so.

When I called a couple weeks ago, they indicated that the Fall 2011 refurb was still going on now.

There is one 3 bedroom unit on each floor. In most buildings they are at the end of a building. In some of the oldest buildings they are near the middle of each floor.

I have an exchange for a 3 bedroom in January. Could you please tell me which buildings are "the oldest"? We would prefer to be in a building that has the 3 bedrooms at the end of the building. Thanks!

Cheers!

I would think those would perhaps be the ones around the main clubhouse area. I know that building 97 has end unit three bedrooms. Though I don't know if the units will be through their refurb by January.

I know that buildings 91 and 92 also have 3BR on the ends.

We have requested building 82 for this winter and they indicated that the 3bd were in the center of the building. We have never stayed in this section of MGV before.

Thanks for the info! I've passed all of the responses on to my sister so she can make an informed decision. I'm just along for a fun time in Orlando regardless of which building we're in! :)

Cheers!

Latest renovations

Latest renovations, as mentioned in the Grande Vista October 2011 Newsletter:

In the winter of 2010/2011, Phase II of the resort (which includes Buildings 82, 83, and 87), received a “case goods” interior renovation. This project included the replacement of all interior furnishings, appliances, cabinetry, floor tile and more. This is similar to the renovation of Phase I of the resort, which was completed in late 2008. Also, a soft goods interior renovation was performed this past winter on Phases VI and VII, (Buildings 77, 78, 79, and 84). In the fall, renovation of the largest phase of the resort, Phase III, which encompasses Buildings 96, 97, 98, 99, and 100, are set to begin. These buildings will receive a comprehensive case goods update similar to that described above for Phase II. All eight phases of the resort will continue to cycle through the refurbishment process as each year a new phase will reach the time for renovation.

It goes on to say MGV was the recipient of this year's Marriott Vacation Club's prestigious "Resort of the Year" award.
