I will be booking a week at Grande Vista when the calendar is released this coming Tuesday. I own a 3 bdrm and am interested in booking the same. From reading Tug I have learned there are differences between the 3 bdrm Lock-offs vs. the dedicated 3 bdrm. Can anyone please elaborate on the differences? I will be travelling with my wife and two kids, as well as my mother-in-law. We want the sleeping arrangements to allow for a king for my wife and I, a queen or larger for the MIL, and for the kids it doesn't matter. Is there a difference between the lock-off vs. dedicated in this respect? This will be my first time to Grande Vista so this information plus any other details you all have to offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!
Joe

The dedicated 3BR unit will have five beds total. King in the Master, and two queens in each of the other two bedrooms. The 3BR lock off unit has four total beds. A king in the master, a king in the lock off studio and two queens in the other bedroom.

Given your arrangement, I would just book the 3BR lock off type unit. That way your MIL will have a little more privacy, her own mini fridge and microwave. As well as her own entry way even if it isn't needed. I think another benefit of a lock off type is that the lock off studio has its own AC controls. Not sure if the dedicated type has that. Also, a lot more of the 3BR units at Grande Vista are lock off type. So you will have many more options for villa requests than if you book a dedicated type unit.

What a great description, thanks so much! I think we will go for the lock-off and if for some reason there is no availability the dedicated doesn't sound like it'd be too much of a step-down. Thanks for the clarification because I thought a dedicated would have been better. You had mentioned flexibility in villa requests, are there certain villas that we should stay away from?
