Hi, my family and I are considering staying at grande vista. It would be 6 adults and 4 kids with two villas. e have stayed at mariott oceanwatch before and at bonnet creek. How does this place compare? Is it the same upscale feel at oceanwatch? Some reviews online are mixed so we are worried!

Thank you and I appreciate your honest feedback

I’m a Marriott owner and I have stayed at at least a dozen MVC and stayed at all the MVC in Orlando except lakeshore.
Grande Vista is my favorite in Florida.
It is typical MVC.

I‘m not sure what you mean by “upscale”, but if you have specific questions feel free to ask.
Sometimes people give negative reviews because the resort is crowded and they can’t find a pool chair, there are mosquitos or they don’t get the room they want or what have you. What are you concerned about?

We really like Grande Vista. Lots of different options for where to stay on property depending on your interests, and it's big enough that you'll likely be age to get two villas near/next to each other.

We also enjoy Grande Vista.

Please tell us what does the six adults enjoy during their resort stay? Examples: golfing, playing tennis, swimming, cooking on a grill. or shopping.
What are the ages of the four children and what do they enjoy? Disney, Legoland, tennis, swimming, basketball, putt-putt and other on site amenties.

Thank you for the feedback. Oceanwatch was very beautiful and luxurious to us. The rooms were beautiful, clean, modern, and the property was the same. Some of the google reviews about Grande Vista say the rooms are old and dirty, the property is unkept, rude staff etc. It worried me when I read that. I often take those things with a grain of salt but there seemed to be a lot of negative feedback on google which is why I turned here..

Thanks

Adults are as follows
Male 65- shopping and casinos
Female 63- shopping and casinos and reading by the pool
Male 38- fishing, dining etc
Female 37- relaxing
Male 42- fishing and relaxing
Female 42- bar atmosphere, music, swimming, fun

Kids are 2, 4, 8, 11 who all enjoy swimming, playgrounds ect.

We stayed at bonnet Creek twice and loved it but the rooms looked dated the last time we were there and we stayed at a MVC after that in south caronlina and loved it so we wanted to try grande vista.

Well comparing an ocean front resort to Orlando might be a let down.
MVC properties rooms are refurbished on a regular schedule so no matter where you stay you might get a room that was done last month or a room that’s due to be done next month.
I think the world in general is stressed out and short staffed right now.

What other resorts are you looking at?
Can you get into Lakeshore?

I didn't look at any others. Is Lakeshore nicer? My inlaws are concerned that the resort is 25 years old

LOL I don’t think 25 is old for a resort or hotel (I’m from New England- we have old). As I said MVCs are refurbished on a regular basis. I believe Ocean Watch is 17 or 18.
Lakeshore is the newest in Orlando- maybe 10 years old? It’s located at Grande Lakes on the same grounds as the JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton. I haven’t stayed there but I have eaten at the JW (Primo). Grande Lakes is nice. Others may be able to comment specifically on lakeshore.
If you become a member of Tug you can read reviews here.

Also, wherever you stay you might want to check the bed configuration of the unit code you book- at Grande Visat some 2 BR have 2 queens in the second bedroom and some have a king and a sofa bed.

Dioxide45, do you have a current YouTube video of Grande Vista? That you can share with this OP?

There are many up scale malls and shopping centers in the Orlando area and close to the resort.

There are all kinds restaurants in the Orlando area.

Suggestion to the OP, please looked at MVC website for The Grande Vista Resort?
This will give you a visual idea how this resort look.

There are many pools and lakes located at this resort.

There is a golf training school on site and several golf courses onsite.

You can view all buildings and pools by looking at the resort map.

There is a YouTube full tour of The Marriott's Grande Vista that you can review.
Good Luck.

If you're worried about updated rooms, Lakeshore is not for you. I don't think they've ever been updated. I hear this may be the year though!

I agree with you! They rooms have the same furniture and carpet since our first stay at least a decade ago. Still nice but definitely it'll needs a refurb. Stayed at Cypress Harbour and that resort is a out 20 years old at least and interior of villa has more modern furniture than Lakeshore.

Now do not get me wrong. Our favorite Marriott resort in Orlando is Lakeshore, then followed by Grand Vista. If just the wife and I, will take Cypress Harbour over Grand Vista.

To the OP, on YOUTUBE there is a video showing a current renovated two bedroom lockout villa at Grande Vista. The video was taken three months ago.

Enjoy

I don't have a video of the newly remodeled villas, but here is a link to one by another YouTuber.

Thanks! I love this guys videos! I appreciate it. I learned about Koala from this vlogger. Thx again!
Yeah, I hear he is a pretty cool dude

We were at Grande Vista in December. It was one of the nicest rooms I’ve had. We usually don’t get 2 bedrooms and the room was really large. I thought it was updated but don’t have anything to compare it to. I also liked the grounds and the pools. Even though it was the week before Christmas it didn’t feel crowded. They have good onsite food options too.

Have all the 3 bedroom Villas been renovated recently? How can i find out for sure when they were done?

I think you need to call the resort and ask or better yet have your in-laws call so they can decide if it’s acceptable.
Not sure the average person would have that info.
If all the units haven’t been renovated recently enough I don’t know if there would be a way to guarantee you would get a newly renovated one. I personally have never stayed in an MVC unit that was not acceptable to me.
Good luck.

Renovations at Grande Vista are done by building. Since each building has 3BR units, you will have some recently renovated and some others coming due for renovation. From what I understand they have done renovations to at least some of the buildings in the Club Village section.
