Grande Ocean upcoming visit

We will be checking in on Monday evening. Been to HH many times, but haven't been to GO since '98 or '99, and I can't wait to be back there!

My wife and I recently purchased my mothers weeks from her, and we're not totally up to speed on how everything works yet. Anywhoo...We booked an oceanside villa at GO back in April. We received our confirmation details in July, but I didn't notice until recently that it had "court view" on the confirmation. When you click on the "details" link, it brings up a sketch of the floorplan of an ocean side 2bdrm villa. Any idea on what we will end up with? Our week is at BBC, but we used traded in pts for the week at GO.

Thanks for any help/advice you can give to a new timeshare user!

Here's my personal opinion. A week at Grande Ocean with your family can be grand. Temper your room location expectations with the reality it is a very busy time of year because it's summer. Compound that with the understanding it is Labor Day weekend. The check-in desk at GO has always been very nice to us. Even when they've had to apologize that they couldn't fill my request. Once we went on Memorial Day week with a last minute II exchange. All they had were first floor units. As it turned out it was just fine. No hardship at all. We were in Kingfisher (?) building right behind the child's pool. The splashing water was a nice sound. Being on the first floor was convenient for coming and going. It was also convenient for a quick trip to grill and hot tub. With the heat this time of year I can see that the shady units would be equally welcome on any floor. You just can't go wrong. Of course if you get something higher and more in line with your request that would be a bonus. Just don't let the room location make or break your time together.

The likelyhood of getting a oceanview in an OS unit at the GO is not very good. If you were a multi-week owner I'd say differently and you could request one of the few really good OS view units but as a points person I'd say it not likely.

With that said some of the courtyard views can be very nice overlooking the others pools and garden areas of the resort.

Overall any stay at the GO is a great one.

We were at GO last week for 5 days on points, are GO platinum owners and are premium plus owners with Marriott. Our unit was on the 2nd floor near the dolphin pool. We had a great 5 days. The island will be calming down after Monday so you may get a great unit. We noticed last week that there were always chairs available by the pools and no one rushed out at 7am to get their chairs. It is a great time to be on the island. Have a great time. We are now at SurfWatch.

Good to hear all this Janette. We're arriving this Friday for a week of R&R timed perfectly so school age children are in school! :)

Just don't let the room location make or break your time together.

Definitely won't do that! Love this resort (at least my memory of it), and love HHI. Friends of ours are staying with us, and together we'll have 3 young children. I'm just hoping we don't have a 10 minute plus trek to the beach as it is with some units at Barony.

Thanks for the info everyone. We now own 3 weeks, and I'm looking forward to learning more as I go, with help from this forum.

Thank you,

S, S, & S

The good thing about rooms that are on the outside of GO is that they are convenient to something else that makes the vacation fun. It could be the mini golf, pools, turtles, lap pool, hot tubs, grills, marketplace, swings. Even parking.

The full house sounds like a good vacation to look forward to.

Congratulations on your 3 weeks.
