We are considering renting a week from an owner here. It is their regular owner''s week they are unable to use. Does this make a difference in terms of the type of unit assigned? I have read some reviews of the resort that have widely varying tales of the type of unit - some people complained of receiving an older unit with boomboxes stained carpet and sheets etc, while some reviews were glowing of great views and a very nice unit.

We own but haven't stayed there in many years. From our past experiences, we found that agreeing to attend a sales presentation resulted in a better unit assignment. You might be shuffled to the sales staff as part of the arrival and check-in process.

Owners can request a particular unit 90 days before the check in date.

If you are renting from an owner you will get exactly what they own. It could be a 1, 2 or 3 bdm and could be a park or ocean view. GPP will allow you to call 90 days out and select a specific unit in the section they own.

I am staying there beginning July 28th in Villa C building. I am told that all units in Villa C are renovated. I will post a review.

Thank you I am curious to hear how your experience goes. She said they have a park view but sometimes are able to get an ocean view. I am more interested though in how the unit itself is. I have seen some really nice pictures of newer refurbished ones and some older photos that have multicolored dining chairs and much older furniture.

Most have the multicolored (original style) still. They are renovating over the course of 3 years during the springtime. They have only done 1/3 of the project at this point. They are on the ocean view side of the complex.

Spring 2014 will have the next 1/3 done.

We have a two bedroom unit for next March, an exchange via RCI. Any advice on rooms, building, etc. would be appreciated. I now call about 2 weeks in advance to confirm and make request. Is that soon enough?

I spoke to them two weeks ago because our reservation is coming up on 8/10. They told me they don't make room assignments until 2 days before check-in, which I thought was a little odd since the week we rented is an owner week that someone couldn't use. I know at my home resort we are always in the same building/suite type when we book our owner week but it can vary for bonus time depending on what they have available. But I guess all resorts are different. They told me to give them a call a few days before our check-in to find out which room we were assigned to and to state any preferences.

Lots of politics at this resort... agree to a presentation and you can get an ocean view. Don't agree, and they'll stick you in the back with a street view. They can schmooze you with complimentary activities pass, which gives you all activities for free (even pizza night.)
Beware of renters who claim to be owners, but rent exchange weeks. You will be assessed a resort fee if this is the case.

And, this is the same management as my Seapointe week. We are able to book a room assignment 90 days out. I suspect you don't have an 'owner' week.
