I have a membership with the Grand Mayan resorts--I also get mailing to renew my membership with RCI.
I have no clue how any of the RCI things work-I have called and was told to contact the Grand Mayan tour guide which I have never been able to get through to.
My questions are---my weekly fee for the Mayan is $600.00 - if I went through RCI would I have to pay the $600.00 at the time of booking a vacation other than the Grand Mayan, and if I go with the RCI membership, do I have to pay the RCI fee as well as the $600.00 GM fee?

Welcome to Tug

Ok, so you are really dealing with 2 different things.

1) you own a week at one of the Vida Resorts, if it is a Grand Mayan then it is probably a 1 bedroom? or a Master room?
Once you are clear with what you own, then you can make a plan on how and where to trade.

2) Trading a GM is best done in either RCI or SFX. RCI has an annual fee of $89 iirc, SFX has no annual fee for a gold membership.
Each trade costs a fee for the exchange, RCI is $179 online $199 on the phone, SFX is $189 either way.
RCI will accept a Master Room( Hotel unit with no kitchen) SFX will not.

That is a good starting point. Let us know if you have further questions,

Greg

Generally, when you deposit a week with an exchange company; the MF for that week has to be paid. You don't have the ability to use the week until you pay the current MF. That money goes to Mayan. Who you choose to deposit that week with (RCI or SFX) is a decision you would make based on who gives you the options you want. Membership fees (versus M/F) will be in addition to that (there may also be Exchange Fees!!!)-what you pay the exchange company in addition to their membership fees. Are we clear???!!!
