Does the GM have high speed internet access in the rooms? Is it wireless or hard wired?

Hi djyamyam,

Does the GM have high speed internet access in the rooms? Is it wireless or hard wired?

I don't know about the GM rooms, but I can tell you that the Mayan Palace rooms on the same grounds do not have high speed internet in them.

On the plus side, there is a common business center between the two complexes (really just the back area of the gift shop) that had about 15 desktop computers available for rent. (Wifi in the business center was turned-off when I was there, but you can see the unplugged transmitter sitting there)

Even better, I was able to pick-up a free wi-fi signal when sitting in the chairs along the west most side of the pool (Mayan Palace and Grand Mayan guests currently share the same huge pool). I recommend taking your laptop and wifi card to the pool at 5:30 am or so (they were usually all claimed by 6 AM) to get one of those covered bed things, and while holding your turf, catch-up on your work/web surfing.

Good Luck,
-nodge

Thanks Noodge. With that being the case, maybe I won't bring the laptop. I guess I won't be able to do work while on vacation :p

We got back last week.

On the first floor of the GM building 7, you can pick up WIFI during the day. We took our laptop over there a few times after we learned about it talking to someone at the pool.

Free WIFI at Ajua Maya restaurant on 4th Street between 5th Ave & 10th Ave. in Playa. You can eat, dring & surf.
