We need to bridge 3 days after a visit to the Lagoon tower 2 Bdrm Premier this summer to gain lower weekday airfare.

Need advice on best unit to reserve. We have 3 possibly 4 people and will get a 1 bedroom unit to save points on the weekend days. We have the following options on hold:

1) Lagoon 1 bedroom (King bed and sofa)

2) Grand Islander 3600 point 1 bedroom Resort View (2 double beds + sofa)

3) Grand Islander 3600 point 1 bedroom Mountain View (2 double beds + sofa)

Two Double beds would best fit our family if our 4th family member decides to stay over the weekend. However we also wonder about the size of the unit and views from each.

I have an idea of the Lagoon units (and am tempted to try it since we have never stayed in a 1 bdrm) but there is nothing in the stickies yet about Grand Islander rooms.

Which is the best option for our situation? We wish to avoid air conditioner views but worry about elbow-room with only a king and sofabed. Does mountain view mean it is on the east side of the building toward the road?

Thanks.

We stayed at the Grand Islander 1 BR Resort View 26th floor for 2 nights open season earlier this month and it was a very nice resort with somewhat of an Ocean View but also an excellent Mountain view. I don't know what the Mountain View unit looks like, but it very well could be facing Kalia Road. It was a nice new treat to stay in the Grand Islander, but not our favorite building at the HHV.

We also stayed in a 1 BR Lagoon Tower 5th floor for 2 nights open season earlier this month and since it was a low floor the view was not good; Palm Trees. We have stayed in higher floors in the same vertical rise and the view of the marina and the Ala Moana Beach is great. However, the 1 BR Lagoon Units are definitely larger than the Grand Islander 1 BR unit we stayed in. Therefore, if you are concerned with space for 3 or 4 people I would go with the Lagoon Tower. Final Note we stay in the Lagoon Tower so often that it feels like home. It is our favorite building in the HHV for many different reasons.

I have stayed in resort view and mtn view. I would choose the mtn view unit as it is a little larger than the resort view (about 40 square feet). All mtn view GI units face kalia road. They are the units with the floor to ceiling windows overlooking hale koa parking garage. The GI 1br are smaller than the lagoon tower 1br units except the xx68 1br units are smaller. I also like having the washer and dryer in room instead of a laundry room. I loved staying at the lagoon tower when we get an ocean front or 3br unit but now we prefer the GI units even though the point costs are significantly higher than lagoon.

Another reason we have switched to GI is the Hale Koa parking is only $180 for a month versus $47 a day at HHV. Also the Hale Koa parking garage is very convenient to GI as it is right across the street. If you have any more questions I will try to answer them here or you can PM me. We love staying at GI and our next stay is during my sons spring break in march.

Thanks @Tamaradarann and @frank808 for your experiences - very helpful. I did not know that the GI resort view room was smaller than mountain view. We released the GI resort view reservation because I also don't want to risk looking at an air conditioner. More street noise on mountain view but I expect that the building will be well insulated and this is only a 3 night stay after Lagoon OF and GI 2 bdrm. Will decide on final room when our headcount materializes. (Nice to have AI reservations to stretch our points with free reservations to hold/rebook in case a better option opens up.)
