Grand Caymanian Resort
GCR doesn't pick you up at the airport, but there are cabs and services that will do that. We rented a car and the first foray from the airport to the resort was a little challenging -- esp. the roundabouts, but really, it's pretty quick to pick up the driving bit. One reason I went to GC was to practice driving on "other" side of the road, to prepare for a trip to England. But, my daughter did most of the driving. They are very tolerant of tourist drivers, and while 7-mile beach drive seems like a constant traffic jam, people will stop and let you in.
We really enjoyed our stay at GCR, but it was our first timeshare, so it might not meet some expectations. It does not have its own "real" beach, altho they were talking about bringing in some sand. The unit was lovely, well-stocked, and it was really easy to get around the resort. We only ate in their restaurant a couple of times -- mostly fixed things in the room. We didn't find it a problem to drive to the beach, because we enjoyed going to the different small coves and smaller beaches, which we liked better than 7-mile (Cemetery, Smith's, Eden, Rum Point, etc. -- not many fish close in at 7-mile, but there are in the coves).
The resort bus goes to the grocery store (that's all it does on check-in day), and to the beach (at least one, maybe two places), and maybe into G-town(?).
Their stingray excursion is the first (or maybe some days the second) boat to get to Stingray City, because it's closer -- that was really great.
There are several places to go to around the island, so it's really nice to have a car (as expensive as a lot of the stuff there is, esp liquor, car rental seems a bargain). The car rental counter is not obvious -- you have to walk out from the airport building, hang a right and wander a ways and go across a street to find the building (you can take a luggage cart -- they were free in March, 06, and there were some over there to use to get back with when we came back).
So, keep it on your list, and if that's where you end up -- enjoy it for what it is (but if you're used to grander TS's, expect it to be somewhat different).
