Does anyone know if there is a GPS that can be used in Europe or Asia with city maps and directions?
Darlene

I don't know about Asia, but both Garmin and Tom Tom have GPS versions that come preloaded with Europe maps along with American maps. Of course you could get Europe only Garmin's but I believe the Nuvi 270 is a bargain with North America and Europe pre-loaded (I had seen it selling for $199 on Amazon)

Costa Rica

When we flew to Costa Rica in January, our rental car came equipped with a GPS system. We did have to pay for it, but it wasn't much. The rental car company even put in some "favorites" for us after asking if we knew of some places we definitely wanted to visit. Barb

We aren't planning on driving in Tokyo. We'll be using the trains. We'll just have to download and print maps from laptop. It would be great to have a hand held one to navigate with on the street, especially if it had train times downloaded in it. We used the Tube in London, but there we could understand the language.

National threw in a free TomTom for us in Europe last summer when we innocently asked how to find the rental return in a city different from where we picked up the car!

It was fantastic to have in the cities. Good roadmaps were sufficient for us in the countryside and for the motorways. SIL had a different brand of GPS that routed him far out of the way from Ulm to our timeshare in Maria Alm, Austria but that could be how he programmed it, eg motorway only.
