I just won a 2 bedroom annual platinum SDO on EBAY for $1551. I dont follow SDO auctions too often but it seems like a good price. Any thoughts or advice on it is appreciated. Thanks

Yeah - enjoy it!

Others will chime in at just HOW good a deal it is, but annual Platinum at SDO for that amount is a great value for a wonderful resort. Congratulations.

Well, is it an annual float (1-52) or a platinum 1-21? I guess either way that is a good price, but still, there is an important distinction.

It's a good deal. You outbid me for it. I've been tracking SDO prices for the last 2 years and even taking into consideration the cyclical effect of lower prices this time of the year, it's the lowest I've ever seen. Even sales from a couple weeks ago were in the low $2Ks.

To answer another post, it was advertised as a floating 1 - 52 unit as opposed to a true Starwood platinum.

You did great! Two years ago, the eBay price was > $4,000. Even six months ago, $3,000 would have been a good price.

Great to hear that, thanks for the replies. Other than the obvious difference between the two types of SDO ownership, are there any problems booking SDO with the 1-52 float weeks versus the 1-21 ?

You know its too bad that we didnt have a way to let everyone know that a Tugger found a certain unit and was bidding on it. It sounds silly but for some reason I hate to bid against someone from TUG and probably wouldnt if I knew they found it first.

I'd rather have the 1-52, then you can reserve any week you want. But I have no interest in ever qualifying it for the SVN.

There shouldn't be any problems--just make sure you plan ahead (but you already know that!). The only time that 1-21 float matters is if you're planning to requal. Otherwise, I agree with Robert that it's better to be able to book any week you want.

Finders Keepers!

Seriously, I'm not sure how you'd regulate something like that. Everyone has a different price point so what I might be willing to pay could be less than someone else and then the unit could wind up going to someone else entirely.
