Approx $26K for 150,000 points, first year get a bonus 150K, for 300K, so if I don't take any vacations for the rest of the year, looking at 450K come January, and depending on how we book, that 150K points can easily stay around 200-300K /year, I think. Bought last Saturday so still have a few days to rescind.

I don't know HICV that well, but that (like all retail) seems like a lot of money to buy in. Have you compared HICV with other systems? Rescind, and then do some research to make sure you want that system and that number of points. As everyone says, you can always go back and get that retail deal later if after research you feel it's the best for you.

Were you planning to spend $26,000 when you woke up that morning? Rescind.

If you don't know the answer, rescind. And do yourself a favor and send the rescission letter return-receipt, so you have physical proof they received it
.
If for some reason you want to spend that much on points down the road, Holiday Inn will CHEERFULLY sell the same package to you again. Chances are, you currently don't know enough about that system, or timeshares in general to even know if you'd be a happy timeshare owner.

yes, you should rescind. look into picking up a resale ownership at one of the 3 resorts that allow those points to transfer to the resale buyer if holiday inn is what you want to own in.

looking at it another way. if you do not rescind this, you couldnt even give it back to holiday inn for free. it deprecates 100% the instant you buy it. let someone else pay that premium and you just enjoy the ownership!

Look at your contract. There is a recision clause. Usually you will be given an address or an email(or both) to send it to.
Write a simple letter.
1. Include the names and signatures of everyone who signed the contract
2. Put a date
3. Contract # and name of resort.
4 date of purchase.
5. May also include the location (name of resort) you signed the documents of different from the one you bought.
6. No reason needed.

I (we) ........hereby exercise my (our) rights to cancel contract # ......... For resort (name). This contract was originally signed on ...... At .........

Your names (everyone)
Signatures
Date you are signing the recision.

Use every option listed on the contract. Email it, go to the post office and get a registered mail with receipt confirmation)(keep copy of the letter and your confirmation).

You may get a call from them to sweet talk you to pay less. Don't engage. Your down payment will be returned to you usually within 45 days. If not, contest it with your card before the contest period is over (usually 60-90days depending on the card).
Ask if you have any other questions. Just do not miss your recision window. The date the post office stamps your mail is the official date not the date they receive it.

I am glad I came here and looked at the paperwork today! There was only a 7 day cancelation clause, not 10, and today is the 7th day! Due to the self service machine I was still able to get certified mail with a postmark for today!

Good catch. Now stick around, ask questions and see which system works best for you if any. Consider paying the $15 TUG membership fee which is a bargain for the info you are going to get.
