Woohoo. A vacation... It's been a really crazy and rough year in so many ways (mom passed away being the only one that matters), so I'm really looking forward to being able to take a vacation with my family. We're going to Ocean Pointe. My children are 3 and 6. Any suggestions as to fun things to do down there (besides beach/pool)?

You will have a wonderful time just being at the resort. With kids that young, my suggestions are probably not going to help. We went to Palm Beach and took a tour of the old Flagler house there. We also went on a boat tour that showed all the famous houses along the inlet and we looked for manatees (but didn't see any on that trip). Great places to eat just down the road in a couple of directions, and a big mall on the mainland. I think there's a drive-through animal safari fairly nearby as well. I haven't been for a while, so my info is a little rusty.

There is a state park (can't remember the name) about a mile up the coast that my family enjoyed. We were there in October a few years ago and saw TONS of butterflies.

We also took a short boat ride from Sailfish Marina that was a lot of fun and not too long for small kids.

When are you going? We will be at Oceana Palms in December with kids 4, 8 & 11.

The name of the park is MacARTHUR State Park.

If you're able to do a long, healthy walk along the beach, then you can gain access to the park without any admission fee.

It's a beautiful, isolated beach.

Have fun!

Gottspd,

Go to the "US-Florida" Tug Forum - near the top of the Forum page are two
hyperlinks. Click on the "S.E. FL Website Links" - you will find many suggestions organized by county (you will be in Palm Beach County). The website link for MacArthur Park is also there.

Have fun,

Richard

Get yourself a box of Cheerios, and take a walk over to the saiffish marina and feed the fish. My kids would spend an hour feeding the fish near the marina.
Your kids may be a little young for a ball game, but spring training is a good time, or drive down to Miami to catch a game if in the regular season.

The great thing about kids that age is they love the pool and ocean scene and OP appears to fit that perfectly.

I second the drive thru animal park. We haven't been in a few years but it was great! With kids your age-they will love it and it's so convenient by just staying in the car. Some of the animals come up real close (ostriches) I would definitely look into this. lioncountrysafari.comch
