Hello,

Need your help. We have rented a 2bd lockout (mountain view) for august 09 from owner. Is there a particular building that is more desirable with the best view? I was told to call about 2 weeks prior to going to reserve. Do we have to pay for parking? Where can we get the best deals for a car rental? Are all rooms the same? Non-smoking?

thanks, Nick.

Since you are renting direct from an owner, you are an owner in the eyes of Marriott. You will not have to pay for self-parking (and will get a discount on valet parking). All rooms are non-smoking. I would probably suggest Tower One (I can't remember it's name?) it's the only one that runs front to back and will probably get you the best chance of seeing some ocean

We are owners at Ko Olina. Recommend best chance of some ocean few is in Builing 1 (Kona)Seek something floor 6 and above. There are some mountain view (partial ocean view) in the front portion of this building and some in the back of one wing face the marina and the ocean beyond.

Hi donblu,

I am planning well in advance....I'm exchanging into Ko Olina next April. I saw your recommendation for Kona Tower (I too have a mountainview villa). Do you have a contact name and/or email for villa selection? How do you put in your requests? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Here is a thread from when we stayed at Ko Olina a couple of years ago.

Like you, we traded for a 'Mtn. View' room, and were pleasantly surprised to get the 12th floor room that we did. The young ladies at the front desk were very helpful and cooperative when we checked in. We had requested in advance a certain type of 'mtn/golf course view' room (no parking lots please, and OV if available!), and they talked us into this room instead. Great call!!!!

Here is a link to some pics that were included in the above thread;

We're looking forward to going back on a trade this Sept, and it will be interesting to see what room we get this time (OV).

Steve's photo's show excellent examples of how some of the mountain view units at KoOlina give you a view of the ocean when standing on the balcony. Steve's photos are from a high floor in the Kona Tower (Tower I) near the front of the building. The Nai'a Tower, which is the newest tower, may also overlook the marina.

We typically receive a telephone call about 3 weeks before our arrival time confirming our room preferences. Based on other TUG postings, I've seen suggestions to call about a month before your arrive. Unfortunately, I don't have a specific contact name.

Good Luck!

Don,

Thanks for the info. I'll bank it away until closer to departure.

Also, I will be buying a large beach umbrella, beach chairs plus various beach items . If anyone is interested in them after we use them for the week let me know. We will be there from July 31 to August 7, 09. Or if someone else is purchasing them and leaving july 31 we help you with the cost of them and take them off your hands.

roll aways

yes, you can get rollaway beds at no charge, if they are available. they say it is on a first come basis. however, we have never had a problem getting them there. the staff at ko'olina is probably one of the best. they are very friendly, courteous and helpful. don't hesitate to ask for help at anytime!

i do not know how to post pictures, sorry. the new pool is beautiful - right in front of bldg three and close to the ocean. there is a bar there and a towel hut. we were there in march and didn't have trouble finding chairs by the pool.
it is gorgeous - wish i was going back soon!
enjoy your trip.

2 Questions RE: Ko Olina

We're going there on Saturday and I have a couple of questions...

IS there, or is there not, a lazy river pool?

Is it buggy outside this time of year? I don't know whether or not to bring bug repellent. I don't want to be itchy all vacation.

There is an extended narrow pool at the new Nai'a tower, but it is not a lazy river.

No bugs at all.

We are at KoOlina now, leaving tomorrow. Not buggy at all, but Polyensian Cutlure Center was buggy. I'm wondering if I have anything to leave for you. We didn't buy that much and will probably be taking what we bought home. Enjoy KoOlina. I love it here.
