I made an inquiry about my Global Entry application that I made in April 2023 and got an email with the following “average processing times:

Global Entry-13-14 months
SENTRI-up to 2 years
NEXUS-16-18 months

There is different, shorter time lines on the site. It obviously needs to be updated. The weird thing is my husband applied the day before me and was approved the next day.

Same with wife and I. I did my renewal May of last year and still waiting for it. I did my wife's renewal a few weeks later and she already received hers in like 6 weeks. So very strange and uneven timing.

I wonder if anyone can beat this wait time discrepancy.

My three daughters’ renewal applications, and mine, were submitted in ‘22. Two girls were approved without interviews, I finally interviewed in person last Jan (and had the kind officer check to make sure there was no particular reason for the holdup on the middle child’s renewal application), and that last daughter’s application, submitted in April ‘22 is still pending review.

Thankfully, her very expired card and benefits are still honored!

Just to update: my daughter’s renewal application was finally conditionally approved on July 2, almost 27 months after submission. She’s now scheduled to re-interview in August.

Why is the process so long?

Why is the process so long?
It's ridiculously long, and it seems unnecessary to me. Took us a long time to get approved as well.

Processing times can be weird. We all applied for Nexus. My two children (minors) were conditionally approved and able to schedule interviews in under 24 hours. Mine took 2 months. My wife is at 4 months and counting.

That approval timeline is almost as long as it takes the timeshare companies (Wyndham and Marriott) to complete the transfer of a timeshare week into the new owners name.

My Global Entry application was “pending” for almost a year exactly. My husband applied a couple days before me and his application was approved while he was still sitting at the computer.

There were no appointments near us for months out, but I kept logging in and checking. A last minute one opened up for me after a couple weeks, and then I snagged a cancellation that opened up for my husband a couple of months out.

Keep checking back for appointment times, cancellations do show up. But you need to grab them quickly as they disappear fast.

My Global Entry expires in September. I applied for the renewal in March. When I flew home from CDG I was told that I could proceed to Enrollment on Entry. However, when they pulled up my application they found that it was still pending. There is absolutely no rhyme nor reason as to how this works.

I finally got mine after waiting from May 2023 to June 2024. Meanwhile did wife's after mine but also in May 2023 and she got hers in 3 months. I know they say you can continue to use expired but I wanted mine before I traveled and luckily got it. It saved us in the USVI where we literally walked through in 10 minutes compared to 2 hours for others without.

Global Entry interviews are now available via Zoom. I did this today, and it was fantastic—five minutes from my home and done.

My pending status finally changed to conditional approval or whatever the exact terminology is, 2 days after I return from Costa Rica. This is my second time renewing and they wanted me to schedule an interview where it was not necessary the first time I renewed. It turns out they want me to fax a court disposition for something that happened almost exactly 30 years ago and the agent was “shocked” I was ever approved without it. If I don’t fax this within 30 days, I will be denied.

Both DH and I renewed our GE recently, though about 2 months apart. Both were approved without an interview within 48 hours. We did start the processing well ahead of expiration, since there is no penalty to do so.

I accidentally let my card expire in August. I renewed online (about 5 weeks after expiration). Had approval and a new card within 3 weeks.

So after seeing these posts. I figured start now for planning vacations in 2026…Guess they caught up ten days from application to final aprroval.

I am not sure it is about catching up. Some people's application just take longer. We don't know why, just how it seems to work. It is the interview process that can take longer since finding an open slot may be difficult.

There were many open appointment slots via Zoom when I recently scheduled mine.

Got ok’d to interview yesterday- scheduled for today received the approval email 3 hours after the interview.

Maybe the zoom interviews for renewals are helpful to the workload.

My Global Entry expires on October 25, 2025. I am going to start the renewal process on October 25 of this year. Last time I renewed I don't remember it taking all that long, but there is no penalty in renewing early, in fact it's recommended.

DP: I am 6 months prior to expiration. Applied for renewal on a Friday. Was approved the following Monday. Card arrived 2 weeks later. No interview requested.

Mine took about 6 months on a renewal. Then I waited about six months to schedule my Nexus interview to coordinate with my Thanksgiving trip to Canada this week.

My Nexus renew interview is this Friday. My Global Entry is still valid but I wanted to get my Nexus back with the possibility of having a few trips home. I used to have to pay Nexus out of pocket, as most of the CC offers where for Global Entry only. About 2 year ago they switched their T&Cs and now they will cover the $50 Nexus option which includes the $100 Global Entry as part of it.
