I'm new to TSA Pre-Check and out of the last 4 segments I was randomly selected for "Special Attention". The last guy was really overzealous. I think I've gotten more scrutiny since I've had it.
 
That sounds like a lot but when we travel the waits for TSA are still minimal.
 
DW and I got our Global Entry cards in 2016, and I just got an email notice that they're expiring. So I went online, hoping to do a renewal. Got part way through on mine, and it warned me that I had to do an interview. And checking for any interview sites that I could possibly make, there are no interview slots available at any! It sounds like exactly the way it was when we first got them, and had to fly across country to get the interview. It took months and months before we got our cards. Sorry, not worth it.

So I went to the preCheck site to sign up for that. Put in my KTN from Global Entry, and it doesn't recognize it. It appears I have to do a brand new application to get preCheck!

I thought the government was streamlining this process. It sounds like a bigger PITA than when we first did it. I'm frustrated!

Guess DH and I were lucky when we renewed our GE issued in July 2016 this February and no interview needed. Bad news is that when I went to find my card just now to check the date, it isn't where it should be! Search time!
 
Both the initial card and the renewal were no issue whatsoever. My wife and I have both passed several background checks in the past. So I think that has a great deal to do with how smooth our process was.

Just passed yet another background check last August, but DH hasn't had one in ages. I thought he might have needed one to become a poll worker, but no.
I did locate my missing GE card, which has my same photo from the initial issue.

I'll bet it was in the last pace you looked.

My DL was good for 8 years. I renewed it online w-the same photo.
So, I could age 16 years, but my photo wouldn't age a day.
I wish it were the reverse.
