Did I say I didn't have my own login? Do you even read my posts??? I'm sorry but it's late and this is really starting to piss me off. Do you expect me to hand out my OWN login to the board? hmmmm, can I have your login to RCI or whichever service you belong so I can check it out? What I said was that this was a login that was given me that would give me a chance to look at the site before I had my own login. It's essentially a bogus login that just gets you on the site but not tied to anyones membership. Makes perfect sense to me that they would have something like this available for people who want to check it out.

..........."

Welcome to TUG!

Not to kill a dead horse...., but you doth protest too much. Those who have joined RCI and II and SFX and DAE....and on and on, all have experiences that they share. Some desperately hate RCI and others because of certain experiences. Some love Points and hate Weeks...some love Weeks and hate Points. All of this is not the point...

The point is you suddently show up promoting a service that is dubious, at best. Those individuals have indicated so, and are as vocal about that and you being less than honest, as they are passionate about RCI Points vs Weeks. There appear to be too many coincidences in your case...mainly several of you show up within a few days, touting the same questionable practices. What would you honestly think? Many members here have been Timesharing for more that 25 years, myself included. They have seen infancy grow to adulthood with all of the twists and turns, and so called innovations. Some good, some not so good. When concidences like yours appear, folks start to question the validty and honesty of what is being said.

Would I give out my log in information...I have to certain people...but not Carte Blanche. That's because when I log in, all of my personal information is there. The log in information you have provided, gives absolutely no personal information! So, that also appears to be a set-up...and less than honest.

Stick around for a while...read the Threads...and you'll perhaps understand where all of this is coming from...if in fact you are not promoting or selling something. If you are selling something, chances are you will be tarred and feathered by the members, and ridden out of town.

Once again, welcome to TUG. There's a lot of information here, shared by tens of thousands of years of Timesharing experience.

Far be it from me to agree with anything Wafer or TI says, but the pattern is there.

Global Connections is a Travel Club, fulfilment, exchange company, wholesaler, full service travel agency, club sales, leases, property management. With offices in Overland Park, KS (Corporate); Ormond Beach, FL; Clearwater FL; Boca Raton, FL; Land O'Lakes, FL; and I think Baltimore, MD. They are pretty straightforward and are not any sort of MLM.

mengberg:

I have been the member for about 2 years. I have seen several times similar things happen, usually, someone started an innocent question like "have you hear of XYZ", then someone that never posts or posts only once or twice jump in and claim it is wonderful service, and most of them never post again. Quite a few times it is proved they are coming from the same ip address. So far, I believe I only see a handful of companies that has some representative come out and willing to declare they are affliate with the companies. I don't think it sits well if you constant see people try to claim they are doing business but has problem to face themselves. But after a while, it is kind of automatically you will see it is a shilling.

I also found people like to use similar name. And if a name is not quite a brand name but they are doing similar things, it is very likely they are connected.

I looked at the link for that company and its parent company I posted. The next is a pure guess since I have no experience with them. And there is really not much information in their website.

Looks to me the parent company has managed maybe 2 or 3 timeshares.

I like to play a mind game try to see if I want to do it, what will I do, so this is pure guess.

Say there are total 200 units managed by that company. I believe local government usually require x% of the inventory reserved, and they usually controlled by HOA. And some HOA gives out these to the management company to use. Say there are also about 400 weeks-units owner default. So the management company lump it all together, give it to a subcompany, and sell it as a club base.

Earily year of TS, one of the biggest complain is developer oversold the unit. So in theory, one unit can have no more than 52 owners per year. Developer sell say 60 week for that year. So the MF now is lower a little on paper because instead of 52, it is now divided by 60. But the issue now is there will be owner that paid but will never be able to get use the unit. So, now, most good country has the contract strictly tie to the inventory, the local government will make sure if developer sell, one year is 52 week, no more.

But there are a lot of creative thinking that try to work around it.

A vacation club is one.

In this case, I can see with 400 week-units, they sell a club memebership to 10,000 members. Each pay a yearly membership fee that a portion of it will be apply to the MF. Then when use the week, each only need to pay a fraction of the MF now.

Since they are management company, they find RCI/II and sign some agreement that allow them to let their member enjoy all the benefit as TS owner.

With 400 week-units now deposit to RCI as points, I can gives you say some hot week and a few shoulder week and a few 9,000 week. And if all 10,000 member wants to travel, I can try to use RCI's last call and EV to compensate. I don't care statistically if it is possible, because none has right to monitor the flow of inventory. And I can alway show you the untaken RCI last call and claim the member just unable to grabe the opportunity.

Since it is not real estate, (they are claiming it is travel service club), so local government will claim there is no law to regular them. Since they work RCI as management company, RCI give them a waiver, some discount.

Now, let us not stop here, let us create another MLM company that sell on top of this product to attract more people in.

Can it work for someone, sure, I can see it happen. I can see it makes few people very happy. Can it suvive in the long term when the product mature? I don't think it can if the way I described is what they take. Can it maintains the usuage fee cheaper then most TS, sure, if most memebr can not get the week but still paying the membership fee.

Is it scam? Since this is pure guess, I will leave it here.

Jya-Ning,

Very good post. Thanks for all the info and the explanation of how a lot of travel clubs operate. I 'hope' that's not happening with mine but only time will tell I guess. I recently read 'Timesharing 101' on the newbies thread and found this quote very insightful.

"If it’s too late to rescind, accept that it’s too late and enjoy your week without regrets. Most TUGgers purchased their first timeshares from developers, at prices far exceeding resale value, so we know what it’s like. You should remember, though, that you bought that week from a developer because the sales person showed you how buying that week, even at developer prices, would still yield you and your family more benefits than the cost of buying and using the week. "

If I have good success with it or bad experiences, I'll let you know.
