Last night the Glenn Miller Orchestra played in our local high school auditorium. They had canceled earlier in the summer due to storms and lightening outside, so last night they were fulfilling their contract. It was a great show with lots of good music. The audience looked like a Branson show with most of us being gray haired, but we still moved with the music and hooted and hollered when appropriate. If you ever get a chance to see the Glenn Miller orchestra, I highly recommend it! It was a very enjoyable hour and a half.

Glenn Miller Orchestra Is Outstanding.

Glenn Miller Orchestra Still Has It!
I love the Glenn Miller sound. After all these years, it is still fresh & lively.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra reminds me of Abraham Lincoln's ax, which has had 4 new heads & 9 new handles installed as replacements since the days when Honest Abe used it for splitting rails. But, technically, it's still considered the same ax.

All the original members of the Glenn Miller Orchestra are gone, with new players now on trombone & trumpet & saxophone & clarinet & bass & piano & drums & guitar -- new vocalists, too.

But they're playing the same arrangements of the same tunes, & it's still the Glenn Miller Orchestra.

More power to them.

Meanwhile, click here for information about an upcoming Fairfax Band concert featuring some Glenn Miller numbers along with other music being presented as a Tribute To The Greatest Generation.

Glenn's pretty old by now, isn't he?

Missing in action, December 15th, 1944. Before my time, but I do get to enjoy his music once in a while. My parents were big fans. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy plays tribute at EPCOT during the Food and Wine festival. Best I can do.

Wasn't there a proposed law that a band (say The Kinks) couldn't call themselves that if there wasn't at least one member from the original band?

Darn! I always miss the good stuff. I'll be visiting my parents in Fairfax from 12/19 - 1/7/12. Let me know if your band or anything similar will have a performance.

Cheers!
