Georgian Inn Beach Club ??

This was our first experience at a timeshare. Father-in-law gave us a week here during springbreak. That was probably 6 or 7 years ago. It is a former hotel converted to moslty efficiencies. OK for 2 people but was cramped for the 4 of us. But heck... it is on a great beach with good views. Furnishings were pretty dated and things needed updating. At the time I think they were slowly updating some of the rooms. You see weeks forsale cheap all the time on ebay.

But in 2004 the place was devastated by all the hurricanes and closed for repairs. The last I heard they were completely redoing the place and were to re-open in Oct. last year. Don't know if they did or not but they do have a website you could check.

Are you looking at staying or a purchase?

Jim

We were just there in January

We own there (had never stayed there before) and I wanted to see it because all us owners got hit with a big special assessment because the board decided to fix up the entire place since we were doing hurricane repairs from 2004. It was closed for over a year. All new windows facing the ocean. New balconies too. They really pretty much rebuilt the place (on our dime - but things need to be done so ya gotta do it).

So my two girls and I stayed there from January 2-7 (didn't want to be on the roads on New Years Eve). It was fine. However, the rooms are still all studios (except for the penthouse units). I consider them a hotel room with a small kitchen. It was okay for us. Can't compare what it had been like as we hadn't ever stayed there before.

There are two types of units at the Georgian Inn - sea cabins and staterooms. If possible, get the slightly larger stateroom. A little bit more privacy and the kitchen is a little bigger (four burners instead of two and I think there is an oven in the stateroom).

The staff there is wonderful. They are so accommodating and helpful.

If you're planning on going 'shortly' make sure the pool is operating (if a pool is important to you). They are having 'pool contractor' issues and having trouble getting it fixed. They were assuring us that they expected it to be done by mid-February but who knows. Of course, they have pool privileges at a nearby resort if the pools not done - but that's inconvenient.
