Geo Holiday Vacation Club Info

Okay all you experts - help me out. Are the Geo Holiday Vacation Club and Royal Holiday Vacation Club the same thing? I can't seem to find any info here on TUG specifically about the "Geo Holiday Vacation Club" points system.

Does anyone have these points? How does this "Club" work? Is it a regular timeshare - pay the MF and trade into the affiliated resorts? Or are there other fees involved like a travel club - pay extra when using, etc?

I googled the company - but the info is pretty sketchy. They are based in Toronto. It does say their resorts include the Affinia Dumont, Jockey Club and Powell Place in SF.

Any info would be much appreciated...TIA

GeoHoliday was affiliated with Fairfield/Wyndham in the past, and all the resale points I have seen associated with this program have been a version of Wyndham. When that affiliation agreement ended, Geo then affiliated with RCI pts.. I believe that they now refer to this as GeoPlus.

The resorts that Geo now shows on their site are not managed by Geo- they simply book into them via RCI.

The wife and I have Geoholiday as our intro. They are like the developers as they charge a lot up front and you can get resale deals CHEAP. They have 60+ home resorts where your points trade free. then a membership with RCI for all other trades. We have liked it, used it for a bunch of last minute travel on a tiny points EOY package. I just bought a straight timeshare for the specific resort but we are happy overall. MF a little high but not outrageous. also it is a timed usage thing (45yrs i think) not a owned deeded timeshare.

It seems to be real good for last minute stuff, but not super for regular trades.

We have GEO Holiday. It's been OK so far (2 years), but their use or lose it policy for points is inconvenient. If you don't use all your points, you can't roll them over.

We did get right in to Jockey Club BUT there is construction next door projected to go on until New Year's Eve 2010. The 24/7 construction noise and required valet parking across the Strip were a real turn-off. There is only limited parking on-site and they shuttle you from Planet Hollywood when their parking is full. If you come back after midnight from a night out, there is no parking on-site. It takes at least 20 minutes by the time you drive across the Strip, park, wait for the shuttle, and then are taken back to Jockey Club. Saturday night is even worse. Walking from Planet Hollywood is quicker, so take your walking shoes.

A friend's sister owns Geo but they use it mostly to book Orlando. When we compared, Geo seem to have a number of the same resorts as RHC.

I own Royal Holiday Club for 3 years now and have it work for me well but it is not for everyone.
