When my daughter was a child she was somewhat of a dare devil, she didn't want to ride the jet boats out of Niagara On The Lake until she found out we had to sing a release of liability, as an example.
We once asked her if there's anything she's afraid of. She thought for a moment and then answered, "CLOWNS."

I switched to a gas dryer (& stove) when natural gas came to our subdivision 15yrs ago. I love my gas dryer, the towels seem fluffier than when they were dried in the electric dryer and stuff dries much faster. I also agree with previous posters re the gas stove -hate having to use electric at timeshares (& DS's).
You should not only clean out the lint trap on the dryer but at least once a year clean out the whole length of pipe right to the outside vent. DH (a firefighter) was at a house fire 3+ yrs ago from a plugged vent. Homeowner swore up & down that she faithfully cleaned dryer vent after every use. When the fire was out the guys found that indeed the dryer vent was pretty clear however there was a birds nest in the outside vent (under their deck so homeowners hadn't noticed) and the lint was trapped inside the pipe behind the nest. It built up over time so that there was no way any air could escape -dryer overheated & caught fire while homeowner was out shopping.
From then on our vent pipe gets cleaned right out every fall & I never leave the dryer going when nobody is home.
