We will be @ FC the week of November 14th. If any tugers will be there and would like to get together for a drink please let us know. This will be our first trip to St. Thomas on a trade soooo what are the must see things to do, the best places to eat and do you recommend renting a car. We plan to spend at least one day on St. Johns and a day of shopping. When we travel we look forward to enjoying dinners out at the local resturants.
When we are there I'll try to enter a post to answer any questions.

we used our FC the first time this last May--we rented a car as the taxis are pretty expensive. Make sure to go to the beach over at Morningstar==part of the Marriott hotel==shuttle will take you there==it is really nice and was bigger than when we had gone the previous August when we finalized our purchase. If you are going with children the Atlantis submarine was a big hit with our grand children. They also loved the kids club, ice cream there everyday and adults can get it also. They also loved the slide.
My pet peeve was having to rent an umbrella at Frenchman's Cove for the beach--I think it is ridiculous to have to pay $45 for a week when you own there!
We went to Megans Bay and it was nice but you do have to rent chairs etc. if you want to use them there.

Do a search on "Frenchmans" and you will see a TON of info. Take a look at my other recent posts as well. We just got back a couple of weeks ago from a five day trip interrupted by Hurricane Omar.

Honestly the beaches on STT are just OK. We never made it over to St. John beaches although I hear they are MUCH better: Canneel/Trunk.

We took a one day boat tour that was FANTASTIC and I would highly recommend: http://newhorizonscharters.com/

Other than that check the threads when you search and also check the TUG reviews. There is one review in particlular that I printed out and brought with me....lots of good info.

We rented a car from Dependable. Restaurants we really liked: Off the Hook and Havana Blue. The rest were just OK although those were the only two "fancy" places we tried.

Shopping was good but a LOT of haggling for jewelry. Be prepared to be bombarded.

Hopefully your weather is better than we had!!!!

When in St. Thomas, make sure to visit Trunk Bay in St. John. I have never seen ocean water so clear and blue. Magens Bay was voted one of the top 10 beaches in the world so you can't miss that even though it may get crowed. If you are feeling adventurous, there are tours that take you sailing to the British Virgins islands for snorkling and swimming. If I didn't have my 2 young kids with me, I would have tried it but other people we knew loved it.
