Its a NHK account. If that is the case that is a bonus indeed, as those accounts usually go for a premium. Perhaps someone didn't know what they had or they listed it wrong.

This will be my first and only timeshare. But, I already want a second.

Is there an addiction support group in here as well?

You may have caught the "Timeshare Bug". From a long ago TUG thread. Note that the infection is incurable, but not untreatable.

Yup, Sharon, you've caught the timeshare bug.

The infection has a well-defined pathology.

In the initial infection stages, the victim becomes noticeably anxious and stimulated as the bug spreads throughout the body The victim excitedly makes travel and vacation plans, but this excitement is accompanied by bewilderment as the victim becomes overwhelmed by the pervasiveness and variants in the timeshare bug world-wide. Some confusion and doubt is also typical at this stage as victims wonder what is happening to them and have doubts about whether they made the right decisions. Sleeplessness, accompanied by long hours of looking on line for exchanges, is also common at this stage. Sudden urges to buy more timeshares may also appear at this stage, especially if the victim has been exposed to one of the South African versions.

After several months the symptoms moderate, and the infection becomes a lower grade, chronic infection. The confusion and doubt always diminish in this stage and are the best evidence that the infection is moving into a chronic state. Even after reaching a chronic state, however, the infection periodically flares up into a highly active and visible form, often at least once or twice per year. The more vacation time the victim has available, the more frequent and severe the flare-ups are likely to be.

Research has shown that the mode of transmission for the timeshare bug is via a process called "exchanging", and this occurs in two distinct steps. The process is initiated when the victim "makes" an exchange. This is often accompanied by a sudden burst of happiness, sometimes reaching euphoria. Sometime after the exchange is made, the person usually travels to a distant location to "complete" the exchange. This process usually lasts for about one week. As the exchange is completed, the person usually experiences deep satisfaction. At this time the infection is often transmitted to family members and friends of the victim who are present during the exchange.

Secondary flare-ups can also occur at any time independent of the exchanging process. These are often accompanied by such behaviors as buying or selling of timeshares. These secondary flare-ups are easily triggered by messages from other carriers of the infection. A single message on a BBS has been known to cause simultaneous frenzied buying of timeshare by infected individuals.

Several clear variants in the pathology of the disease are recognized. In Harper's Condition the victim engages in uninterrupted exchange completions lasting as long as four or five months. Fletch's Disorder manifests itself in the continual buying and selling of timeshares, frequent exchange completion, and uncontrollable urges to transmit the Marriott and Royal strains of the bug. DeSchryver’s Syndrome is a particularly strong variant. A victim with DeSchryver's Syndrome manages to maintain the euphoria of the initial stages of the disease almost uninterruptedly into the later stages. A DeSchryver case will also obsess in searching for the timeshare that is the ultimate combination of low cost and high exchange power, and will buy, sell and test timeshares continuously in pursuit of that goal. The DeSchryver also uses the excitement associated with that pursuit to amplify the other pleasurable aspects of the timesharing infection.

There is no known cure for a timeshare infection; nor is there any reason to try to cure the infection since it actually is beneficial. In addition to the pleasurable symptoms described above, many of the victims report lowered stress, happier family life, and increased mental stimulation due to the infection. The only recommended treatment is frequent interaction with a support group comprised of other infected individuals. The TUG remedy has been documented to be the most effective mode of treatment.

Thanks for that good news!
Bad news is you will have to wait 3 months or more for WM to send the Docusign to both parties. Then seller has to "sign" first and then it goes to the buyer. Last contract I bought cheap on ebay it took the seller 10 weeks to turn around the docusign, but was willing to wait because it was a great deal. Turns out it was an elderly widow trying to get rid of their timeshare who had problems doing everything through the computer. I'm glad I was willing to be patient.

I wonder what happens if I impatiently get a second account before the first one transfers.

You should wait until you get your first contract established. Then when you buy a second give them your owner number and it will be added to your account. If you get another while the first is in process you will likely have to a pay $300 transfer fee to combine them later. Wyndham like fees

If one comes up you should grab it. You should look at the maintenance fee chart and try to max out a tier. At 8000 credits you are paying the same mf as someone with 10,000 credits in tier 3. If you picked up a 7000 credit account you would be at the top of tier 5.

Regarding combining the account, you will have to pay a combining fee no matter when you purchase to combine the accounts so the only consideration might be the nhk.

Maybe your on a lucky roll so keep looking, imo.

When you acquire a WM and decide from the beginning that you want to combine, do you pay $299 transfer plus $299 combine or just one total $299 fee?

I've got my eyes open for another.

If it is, in fact, an NHK account, combining it with another will cause it to lose the NHK status and significantly reduce its value. You will want to know whether that’s the case and what the consequences of whatever you choose to do in advance.

I have no reason to think it is... but, you can dream, right? :D

If you combine at the time of the Transfer there is only one $299 fee.

The thing is there has to be an account to combine with. Since this is the first account there is nothing to combine to.

I got the DocuSign. August anniversary. 16k banked points. Hopefully the transfer completes before 8k points expire. 1 HK/yr. So, the NHK pipe dream wasn't valid. But, the full set of points came true. I'm quite happy about it and if it transfers soon, maybe I can get in an inventory special stay next month for a few days to try it out.

If you already got the docusign, it might happen in time. Just to be on the safe side, the transferor could tie up the expiring points by making a reservation 9 months or so out; you can make a different one to shuffle the points and use them. Might be too late for this one, though.

I asked a while ago if the seller would be willing to do that and the transfer company said the expiring points belong to the seller and not to me. I assume they just didn't want to bother the seller by asking them for a timeshare that the seller probably paid the exit company a pretty penny to get rid of.

Good news I think!

I emailed the employee at Wyndham whose email address was on the DocuSign contract asking if it was possible to avoid losing the 8k points. They responded saying they will immeditely complete the transfer and the system will update with my ownership in 24-48 hours.

Where does my member number come from? The contract number is 12 digits but the website says it's looking for an 11 digit member number.

Good news: The very kind Wyndham agent emailed my member number and a scan of the documents without me even asking for them. I am in to my account online.

Bad news: Only 8k points are available even though a few days ago the paperwork on DocuSign said 16,000 were available and the estoppel a little before that said the same thing.

I got the WM bug from a friend who had booked a few places for us and managed to luck out with a Timeshare Nation deal as well, 5000 points but we're in! Expect to use it more next year after I (plan to) retire, but will be hanging out here to get a feel for the system.

Definitely have that 'timeshare disease' - this is our 15th timeshare! When did THAT happen?? :)

When you really catch the timeshare bug, you will probably own upwards of 46,000 WM points. I am watching for 14,000 exactly, to add to my ownership for the additional HK credit. I never see that quantity, but I am not looking all that hard.
