Free visit to Walt Disney World!

While we don't try to visit ALL the resorts, we always have at least one non-park day dedicated to resort hopping and checking out all the things to do at WDW that have no "entrance fee"....so, thought I'd list some of the fun things you could do while visiting each of the resorts:

• Fort Wilderness - Tri-Circle D Ranch to visit the horses (and talk up the staff there, you'll be amazed at the stories they have and what "behind the scenes" things they might invite you to);
• Fort Wilderness - Chip 'n' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long (no entrance fee - you can buy or bring smores supplies);
• Bay Lake Tower - the bridge to the Contempo is another great free place to watch the fireworks (they also pipe in the music there);
• Boardwalk/Yacht/Beach Club - watch the "street performers";
• Wilderness Lodge - watch the electrical water pageant or catch the geyser;
• Wilderness Lodge - they have a hidden Mickey Scavenger hunt available at the front desk
• Animal Kingdom Lodge - multiple savannah viewing areas here and at night there are often cast members with night vision goggles they can use to point out night activity;
• Yacht Club/Swolphin - "listen" to Fantasmic (and catch some of the higher fireworks) from the bridge that goes over to the Swan and Dolphin;
• Port Orleans/Caribbean Beach - both offer "scavenger hunt" checklists at the front desk, free to anyone
• French Quarter - catch some live Jazz at Scat Cat
• Port Orleans Riverside - also offers an evening campfire with story telling, but I think it's seasonal or only certain evenings;
• Movies Under the Stars - most resorts offer a schedule of movies.

Also, most of the cast members working on the various forms of transportation (Bus, Monorail, Skyliner and Boats) have (or have access to) "Transportation Trading Cards" with various facts about the transport that you can collect.

I've had bus riders ask, but I go into marketing mode. I say, "no, but I have something better!" and give them a Disney Transportation wooden coin. Because I planted the seed that it was better, the guest is happy!

@simpsontruckdriver Have you heard anything about WDW restoring bus service to the Swolphin, or is that gone forever? The lack of a direct bus from the Swolphin to MK is a major drag.

WDW bid on doing the Swan & Dolphin hotels a couple months ago, but they decided to stick with MEARS. If anyone at the Dolphin wants to ride a Disney Transportation bus, there is a way to do it: walk next door to the Yacht Club and get on at the bus stop! From the front door of the Dolphin to the Yacht Club bus stop (using the bus entrance) is approximately 0.4 miles, just walk around the gate. I can't guarantee you will (or won't) be approached by security, but there is no security guard at that gate. Or, like I said above, take MEARS to a theme park and take the Disney Transportation elsewhere!

As an alternative to walking to the YC bus stop, you can walk over the bridge near the Swan/Dolphin boat dock to BW and catch that bus. Cutting through the Luna Park area is shorter than walking along the BW itself.

This is not a new idea. We have been doing this for years. Especially during Christmas season. We used to go to the resort pools but they check there to see if you are a registered guest.

I’m not crazy about Disney parks but I really like this idea.
