The club I regularly shop at isn’t on the list, but it worked. We’ll see if they decide it shouldn’t have.

There’s one near a vacation home of mine that I periodically use. That might be why it worked. There’s also a store in my general region that is closing. I’m not sure what criteria they are using to determine eligibility, but will rely on the Sams/Walmart corporate IT Department’s determination that I’m eligible.

I did the extension. While the store near my vacation house is closing, the one I normally use isn't.

I don't get the point. Why would they give membership extensions if your store is closing? In the hope that you'll drive further to an open store? I guess. I don't think there's a Sam's within 200 miles of home so it's irrelevant to me anyway.

For me I have a Sam's Club Mastercard and get 5% back on all gas stations. Plus, while traveling from MI to FL, etc. I stop at Sam's along the way since in most cases the gas prices are cheaper. I have an alternate Sam's near me so the extension comes in handy. In your case they would have offered a full membership refund as an option.
