I have a free unit that can be used in the HGVC/Diamond Resorts Destination exchange program. It is a 2 bedroom polo towers villas week. The unit can be split into a 1 bedroom and studio unit. The 1 bedroom gives a tier 6 credit (highest tier in DEX) and a tier 4 credit. So you get two units in DEX with this single unit at Polo Towers. I have used these to go to Cabo Azul many years. You can get a 2 bedroom high season unit at Cabo Azul with the tier 6 credit and a 1 bedroom high season unit at Cabo Azul with the tier 4 unit.

Or you can stay at Polo Towers any week in a two bedroom lockoff or stay one week in a one bedroom unit and another week in a studio unit.

You would have to reimburse 2025 maintenance fees ($1582.41) and pay closing costs (About $250 for transfer company services.) I think Hilton/Diamond may charge a $250 deed name change fee as well.

@chemteach Is this still available? Does the MF include the club dues as well? If not, do you know how much they are?

It is still available.

When you purchase a resale timeshare, it isn't part of "The Club" for points. (There are two separate programs with Hilton/Diamond - Club Dues usually refers to a different program.)

This unit would qualify for the Traditional Destination Exchange (DEX) program. When you book a unit through the DEX program with Hilton/Diamond Resorts, you pay an exchange fee of $199 for each booked stay. If you wanted to stay at Polo Towers Villas, there would be no additional fees beyond maintenance fees.

@chemteach Would that mean if I wanted to make 1 Tier 6 and 1 Tier 4 booking in DEX, I just need to pay ~$1600 in MF + $400 in exchange fees?

Yup! I believe the HOA covers the cost of the yearly membership. If not, that would be an extra $89 per year. My account shows that I have no yearly fees for my "Traditional Destination Exchange" program. Also, you can upgrade from the Tier 4 to a Tier 5 or 6 for $225 per Tier upgrade. Tier 6 is the highest tier; it can get you any unit availabe for no additional fees. The exchange fee is a bit less than I wrote earlier: $179 if you make the exchange online and $189 if you phone in to make the reservation. Also, with a Tier 6 week, you can get two weeks in a Tier 1 or Tier 2 unit for the one Tier 6 week.

As an example: you can get any available (key word being "available") high season 2 bedroom unit at Cabo Azul with the Tier 6 week. If you plan in advance, this is doable - I have gotten two units there during March and April for family trips the last couple of years. We have also used the system to stay summer in Lake Tahoe and spring/summer in Sedona. There are a bunch of great resorts in the system. You can find the guide to Traditional Destination Exchange here:

(If you are concerned about clicking on links, you can use google to search: destination-xchange-guide_9.pdf
and the link will come directly from Hilton - it's the same link.)

I just looked at the guide, and it looks like the 2 bedroom Polo Tower Villas unit when split into a 1 bedroom and studio now earns a Tier 5 and a Tier 6 week. :)
