Thinking about Four Seasons Aviara to visit my daughter who lives in San Diego area, but read recent reviews of property on Trip Advisor and they were very negative. It appears this timeshare is no longer a Four Seasons and has gone downhill. Apparently most units are located near the highway and are very noisy. Comments welcome.

Sorry, not very familiar with this property per se but we stay fairly close by at HGVC MarBrisa & GPP/Carlsbad and love our stays there (at much lower MFs than FSA) (there is also SeaPointe at Carlsbad from GPR but we haven't stayed there yet but also usually rated very well by folks)..
TY!

I looked at some of the reviews and it seems that the Four Seasons Hotel & Resort is now a Park Hyatt. That didn't change the Residence Club which is still Four Seasons. Did/does the Residence Club get amenity benefits at the hotel? I would suspect the experience is much different without both properties being Four Seasons, though I've never stayed there.

Four Seasons Aviara timeshare is still a Four Seasons timeshare property. If you are referring to the hotel, the hotel is now part of Hyatt, it's a change in hotel management. I have stayed at Four Seasons Aviara several times and have never had any issue with noise. You can still go over to Park Hyatt and dine there.

It’s really nice and quiet on a hill. The resort fee is high but covers daily room service. You can eat at Park Hyatt but otherwise the pool side dining and in-room dining are also pretty good - not just junk bar food.

Don’t think you will regret staying there - I rented it there once and got me really into TS world.

We just stayed at the Four Seasons Aviara the week before Christmas. Units have been nicely remodeled and the property and service were tip top, as usual.

Just yesterday morning, I drove from Oceanside to San Diego Gaslamp Plaza Suites. Instead of taking Hwy 5, the route suggested by my GPS, I drove the Pacific Highway almost the entire route. (I nearly missed the return time for my rental car, but that's a story for another day.

It was like a stroll down memory lane as I drove past many timeshares where I have stayed over my 25+ years of timesharing.
(I lived in Northern California for many of those years.) I nearly moved to San Diego two times in my life. So, I know the area well.

The first question is -- what do you want / need to accomplish for this visit?
The second question -- will you have a car?
Third, how many people? (Are there grandkids who might want to use timeshare facilities?)

Thanks so much to all those who responded to my post.
The main purpose of my visit is to visit our daughter.
I’m guessing we will need to rent a car when not with our daughter.
No grandchildren will be with us - only my husband and myself.

If it's just the 2 of you, a 1BR sounds like it would suit you nicely. The 1BR at FSA is very nice. Be aware that if the beds aren't just right for you, they can come in with toppers to firm up the bed or soften it, and they are very quick and responsive about doing so.

Interval International - own a Marriott timeshare

To clarify, we will be depositing an actual deeded week for exchange - not using points.

I think the bigger issue is going to be whether you can find an available FSA week in your desired travel window. FSA trades in II are not easy to come by .

This is very true. I am sure this is going to be difficult.

When did you want to go?

I know this will be a difficult trade, but wanted feedback on the resort before depositing. Again, thank you for providing me with so much info. It sounds like a delightful place to stay.
