Lakewood is a suburb of Tacoma.
McChord AFB is about a mile west of the location. Pacific Lutheran University is about 2-3 miles east of the location.

It's been awhile since I have been up there, but I thought the area was around McChord. Have they reported any military connection? I keep reading the words, "execution style killing". If this is true it's very very sad and scary.

I think this is another one of those "kill a cop to prove you're tough enough to join our gang" things. Terrible waste all around.

Heard on the radio that the suspect was shot and killed early this am.

The killer was really crazy. He had been in jail since July and just got out on bail last week even though two local mental health pros said he was too crazy to be let out.
The night before the shooting, he told several people that he was going to kill people the next day.

One of the patrolman that was killed was my son's road partner a few years back. Early this a.m. when my son was on his way home from getting off duty, he heard the gun shots that brought the killer down. As I watch the news the past few days, I recognize many faces and names. It's been gut-wretching and so mindless seeing what this horrible person has done and all the people that it has affected.
