Former Uber employee ranks Google Maps, Apple Maps and Waze, prompting map app debate

A lot of times WAZE is a little too interactive. I mainly use Apple Maps.

It wasn’t one of the 3 ranked choices, but I swear by Tesla maps and navigation which is native in my car.

It has the BEST voice command interface of any navigation app I’ve ever used. No need to know addresses of any destination. Just say “take me to Dr. Bakers office in Jersey City” and up pops a list of all Dr Bakers, their specialty and address to choose (if more than one). Even their phone numbers if you need to call and confirm.

The traffic calculated arrival times are the most accurate from the start of the route and update as needed in route.

Also, I hate hearing voice commands on any map/ navigation app. I mute the commands and Tesla gives you plenty of description, and distance markers in time for upcoming turns/ exits with clear graphics.

We always follow any unusual routing, which is usually due to detours or bad traffic along the route and say “Elon knows”.

I use Apple Maps almost 100% of the time. I try to use Google as little as possible for anything because I don’t care to have my data harvested while I drive.

I recently switched to Apple Maps from Waze and agree, it is superior, but don’t kid yourself, Apple is harvesting our data too.
