Florida Block

Unless it has recently changed (like within the last month) the Disney Orlando block is still in place.

I frequently search with Willow Ridge, Harbor Lake and Grande Vista. I can only see Disney inventory with the Willow Ridge deposit and not with the Harbor Lake or Grand Vista deposit.

Now if I switch the GV to be one of the other Florida Club options (BPT, OP, or LE) than I can see Disney inventory even though the underlying ownership is GV since the deposit itself is not GV in that scenario.
Good to know. Perhaps my hypotheses that Star Island simply isn't coded correctly as being a resort within the regional block radius is a possibility.

Seems plausible, although I'm not complaining :)

So we need to find an Orlando Westgate owner who trades through II. I may check in one of the WG Facebook groups.
Might as well see if they could check Park City, Myrtle Beach, Branson, Las Vegas and Williamsburg. I guess anyone who owns non Marriotts in any place where there is a Marriott or Vistana could check to see if there are blocks and if they are reciprocal.

I can see 7 more resorts with non Orlando resort vs Marriott Orlando all 7 of the Westgate. In Branson the difference is 23 vs 25 again both Westgate. In Myrtle Beach, I am not blocked out of Westgate with Sheraton Broadway. I am not sure if Marriott in MB can see it or not. Same with Phoenix area 15 (including the one Westgate) with both SDO and something from outside. So either Westgate doesn't block Sheraton or they don't have blocks in those regions.

For Phoenix, are you referring to Westgate Painted Mountain in Mesa? If so, I can see that with a Canyon Villas deposit.

@Greg G Are you able to see Marriott resorts in Orlando?
Oopps, I had my start date invalid when I searched. Once I corrected that I can see many Marriott Orlando resorts with my Star Island

Thanks. Though it is possible that your property isn't coded properly as the DVC block isn't working right. So your specific experience may not be 100% telling of the situation.

I still don't think there is a block of other Orlando resorts exchanging into Orlando Marriotts. I'm still waiting for a response to my inquiring in a Westgate Facebook group, though for some reason it looks like it might be closed to replies. I really dislike Facebook groups. Once I posted my question it was near impossible to find again.

Agree.

So, if I'm looking on II and click on my resort that I banked, and I can see other resorts as exchange options, does that mean there is no block on them? Specifically, I was looking at Marriot GV or Cyprus Harbor. I can see weeks available (in Feb./March), so I assume I can exchange for them. If there was a block, I wouldn't expect to see those resorts available. I'd be using a non-Marriot, non-Disney resort for trading. Am I thinking correctly about this?

You are correct. If you can see the resort units in the instant exchange search results then you can confirm an exchange into them. No block. Blocked resorts would not even show up in the search results.

I don't think it is Marriott blocking Westgate. I think Westgate has a similar regional block like DVC does. Can non-Marriott Orlando resorts exchange into Westgate?
that would be rather hilarious with Westgate blocking Marriott owners

You are correct.

What resort do you own?

Wanted to verify your resort is not Star Island, correct? So your Orlando non Marriott , non Disney resort can see Orlando Marriott resorts, correct?

When I search with a Harbor Lake deposit- I do not see any Westgates in Orlando using it- but I can see other Westgates with it. River Ranch, Smoky Mountains, Branson, etc. all available.

When I search with Willow Ridge deposit I can see multiple Westgate Orlando options. Neither Westgate Branson resort shows up when searching with my Willow Ridge deposit- so Westgate must have a local block in place there as well.

Intesting. I am still trying to find a Westgate owner who can tell me if they can see Marriott resorts in Orlando. It seems like all the Westgate Facebook groups are setup so every post has to be approved. What a PITA.

Westgate does not want their owners to know how nice Marriott timeshares can be ;)
Oh, we know. We bought resale many years ago. I think the clientele has changed for the worse in the past 10 years. People used to dress up for check-in and now you would be surprised what people wear. The smell of marijuana is abundant when walking around the resort. Glad that they have great Security. I just want to escape Wisconsin winters and have a roof over my head.

Westgate Vacation Villas. I could never see Westgate Orlando Getaways that everyone talked about so I followed your advice and acquired Vacation Village at The Colonies. I called II and told them that I sold my Westgate units and to remove them from My Units. We always use our weeks 7 & 8 so never bank or exchange them thru II. Now I am taking advantage of all the cheap Westgate Getaways.

Good move. I was hoping you could see if you could exchange your Westgate weeks through II into Marriott resorts in Orlando or Williamsburg, but that won't be possible since they are no longer in your II account.

Yes that is correct. Legacy resort
