Canada eh!
I have a true platinum 1 bedroom premium eoy at SDO. We are just waiting for it to show up in Starwoods system. First use is 2012. This will be the first time doing a deposit trying to get WKORV. How does a eoy work differently than an annual? I read the sticky but do I deposit with both II and Starwood or just Starwood? Signed...a confused newb.

You'll contact Starwood (doing this via mystarcentral is quick and easy, and you get a nice confirmation message) and designate the unit for exchange. A couple days later, it will show as a deposit in Your II account, and you can then put in the ongoing request.

There are two steps:

1) Open your II Acct. and register your week with II.

2) Contact Starwood to "designate your week for exchange" (deposit it with II.)

Step 2 - Depositing and Exchanging - for both SVN II Accts. and personal II Accts.

1. Once your II account is open, your unit should appear in your online account within a few days. This ONLY means that it is REGISTERED - it does NOT mean it is DEPOSITED.

*IMPORTANT - This is where a lot of people get confused. You MUST do the next step to deposit your timeshare every year if you wish to deposit it - REGISTERING your week with II and DEPOSITING your week with II are two different steps. Just because you see the timeshare in your online account does NOT mean it is deposited - it only means it is REGISTERED.

2. DEPOSITING (designating your timeshare for exchange) - Once the unit is visible in your online II Acct., you must call Starwood Owner Services at (888) 986-9637, to "designate it for exchange." You can no longer do this on the Interval website, unless you own a true fixed week. If you try to make a trade without calling, it may appear to go through, but it may eventually get hung up. *You can also "designate your week for exchange" online at www.mystarcentral.com - I prefer to deposit online, because Starwood sends you a detailed receipt of your deposit.

Here is the path for depositing on www.mystarcentral.com: Sign in > using your ownership > click on the resort name > request a reservation > request your vacation now > request an exchange > answer the questions

How does a eoy work differently than an annual?

Besides only being able to deposit it every other year - there is no difference. These are the dates for depositing an EOY:

The 2012 usage can be deposited as early as Jan. 1, 2011, and as late as the last day of 2012.

The 2014 usage can be deposited as early as Jan. 1, 2013, and as late as the last day of 2014.

The 2016 usage can be deposited as early as Jan. 1, 2015, and as late as the last day of 2016.

etc.

Also, if you've just recently opened your II account (within the last 30 days) or made a confirmed exchange you can get a $12 refund. Click on the "Magazine Benefit!" on the right side of the II homepage, and follow the instructions there to get your refund in lieu of taking a one year subscription to one of the five magazines offered.:D

I have opened my II account within the last 30 days AND made a confirmed exchange, but I can't see the Magazine Benefit. Maybe there are different offers for different members?

I do however have a $25 discount on a Getaway.

Click on "Getaways" and then look at the box on the right - it's the 4th item in the box.
