I did it! :cheer: We bought a small 1 BR Platinum week at WKV resale (long story why it's not something bigger) and thought the 1st use year was 09. Turns out was 08 and the MFs were already paid. So I put it into II, not really caring about what week got deposited, since it was "free". We got a pretty good late spring 08 week at Kierland deposited (a week that had already passed. How they do that I'm not sure. But that's another topic.).

I offered it to my sister to use for a vacation. Today it traded for a 2BR at Marriott's resort in Panama City, FL for Easter week 09! Her dates and locations were pretty constrained since she's a college teacher in South Carolina who teaches summer school, so I'm pretty exited. Something was also available that week in St Thomas, but the flights just didn't work. While we were waiting on the exchange I saw a lot of Marriott Malaga's and other interesting properties with it.

What I learned: Even a decent week, in the past, can be a good trader. I might even try this again sometime!

Yay, great news :whoopie: ! Fun to have a "free" week to trade with no expectations, and then to get a great exchange! What did you ask Starwood when you asked for a week to be deposited?

I said something like, "I just bought this property and it has a 2008 week I can't use. I'd like to deposit it into II, please." Since I didn't care what week it was, no supervisor was required. :)

I have a really strong (holiday) SBP resale week I might have to deposit, which isn't in SVN, so that conversation might be a bit different.

Congratulations on your successful trade! What a great trade for you and your family.

We had a similar experience last year. When we bought our Kierland week, the previous owner did not use their weeks. We got a "free" week to play with in II. We traded the one side for WKORV, which we are leaving for in two weeks.

Good news for you.

I wish I knew how to feel about II - not that it matters. My first timeshare purchase was Marriott in NJ - I have no desire to ever go there and success will totally depend on trades. I realize it is not considered a great trader tho I certainly had no clue about any of that when I bought.

After a few years of lean trades, I seem to have struck gold. Got Marbella for early July last year, and got Newport Beach, CA for the end of June and early July next summer.

The only thing I can say is that I deposited extremely early. As long as it keeps working, no complaints. More to the point, I'm happy to look at the value received for the dollars spent and feel that as of now, I'm owed nothing for the vacations I've had.

If you purchased Platinum at MFV - it is a fabulous trader that gets an AC every year from II - if you purchased gold - then those 2 last trades are phenomenal

It's Platinum. Good to hear that - the first three years, I had no success until I opened the search to units other than Marriott. Hope you're right!
