So I just made my first exchange ever into Maui Schooner! I am hoping that something else in Maui pops up that I can change to but we had Kauai and Kona already booked so we aren't flexible on the dates for this exchange so I felt better just booking and getting E Plus in case nothing else comes available.. I didn't see any information about fees during my checkout. We booked a 2 bedroom. I think that probably we have to pay at least the Hawaii Transient Tax. Does anyone know if they have any other fees?

Also, I would love to get an ocean front or ocean view unit (I am sure everyone says the same thing). If I called them would they already know what unit I had booked into? Or do they not assign that until the day of check-in? Anyone ever successfully upgraded to an ocean view after check in? I would be willing to pay to do that.. We will be there Nov 6 - 13 so I'm hoping it won't be fully booked up.

@slip owns there. He should be able to provide info.

I have owned at the Schooner for years but only traded in once. We traded in two years ago and the only fee we had to pay was the Hawaii TAT tax.

As far as requesting a unit. They do note requests and I don’t think you can pay extra for an upgrade. They have two buildings there and the A building is the oceanfront building. The B building is behind the A but it is angled and you can see the ocean on the higher floors.

I don’t believe they do the room assignments until the week before arrival. I would definitely call them and let them know you would like an upper floor with a view of the ocean if possible. Our request was filled but we also made it know that we were owners.

I’ll take a look at my pictures and post a picture of the view that we had in the B building during that exchange. Our exchange was during high season in February and it was very crowded then.

We have a reservation for a week this May. We can book 18 months out there and I booked that over a year ago. We will be on the 4th floor in the A building.

I found a picture from our exchange. This is from the lanai looking over the pool toward the ocean. This does have some zoom on it. Both buildings are set back from the ocean. I believe there is a park in front but there are no buildings blocking any views. Many people walk out to the beach every evening to watch the sunset

Here’s a video of that view and it gives you a good idea of the layout of the grounds. The tennis and Pickle Ball courts you see are not a part of the resort. That is part of the park the county owns that I mentioned.

I found a video of our unit also. We really like the Schooner and prefer to stay in Kihei. We find it more centrally located.

I would think it may not be too crowded yet when you are coming. Of course, this is only my guess.

Thank you for the pics and video! We prefer Kihei as well. In past years we have stayed at Menehune Shores but through vrbo so we were able to ensure an ocean view. I will definitely try to call and see what they can do. We also land a couple of hours before check in so maybe that will give us a better chance of switching units before everyone else shows up.
