Do sequoia have a natural defense against fire? I thought when we were there that was mentioned

Many have survived several fires. The insides burn out and never grow back, but the tree still lives. They are very interesting. There's no guarantee that they will always live through the fires, though. Hopefully, they will be okay. I love those trees.
