You can still use the StarOptions in SVN to trade into other properties, you just cant convert the StarOptions from this purchase into StarPoints.

If this offer is not allowing conversion to staroptions or starpoints, I can't see the benefit of purchasing even for $1.

SVV-Key West is a mandatory resort. That means that, per the Owner's Agreement, membership in SVN is mandatory even upon a resale purchase. Therefore, depending on the season and size, it may be a worthwhile purchase for someone looking to stay there and/or exchange into another SVO resort.
