Fees to use pooled FF points ?

I know it costs $25 to pool your points. Is there a fee to retrieve them from the pool (i.e. use them)?

Also, I read somewhere that the owner has to pool new points within two months of the date new points are credited. Then, I read somewhere else that you can pool at any time during the use year. Which one is right?

Thanks in advance.

You must pool your points PRIOR to the start of your use year unless you are VIP Gold or Platinum in which case you can do so up to 6 months into your use year.

There is a limitation on use of those pooled points that I can't recall. I think it's something like you can only use pooled points at resorts that have points pooled into them. I am not sure of how that works practically.

Pooling is cheap and easy

You pay the small deposit fee to pool your points. After that there are no other charges due to the fact that they are "pool" rather than current year. Unless you are a VIP owner you must pool before your use year begins. Not a big deal you just have to remember to do it.

I believe it is that you can only use the pool points if there is point for that year available. So, it would not happen that a lot of owners put their 3 year worth points and try to use it all in the same year and create the same effect as oversell.

Limitations with FF pool credits

I am not exactly sure what this means, but reservations using pool credits "depend upon the availability of points placed in the pool by other members with the same Use Year end date of the year you wish to redeem your credits."

Also, pool credits can be used ONLY within Fairfield. Unlike regular or cancelled FF points, they may not be used for RCI, II, Plus Partners, Cruises, etc. Also, they may not be used for ARP reservations. Pool credits expire 3 years after they are deposited.

You also have to have or purchase enough Housekeeping Credits for the points you place in the Credit Pool.

If you cancel a reservation used with pool credits, you get back Cancelled Reservation points for the current Use Year, not the Use Year of the original points. I.e. if you put your 2007 points in the credit pool, use them for a 2006 reservation, and cancel the reservation, you get 2006 Cancelled Reservation points back.

There used to be a conditional points credit pool for people who missed the deadline for deposits into the regular credit pool, but I don't know if FF still offers this feature.

Thanks for all the replies.

On the point above, does anyone know if this restriction also applies to rented points, or points that are borrowed from the next use year? Can you use rented and/or borrowed points for external exchange?

Rented points don't have restriction. Borrowed points can only be used in the internal resorts reservation (FF, Affilate/Associate). However, you should be able to deposit next years points to RCI 10 month before use year starts. It is not an advantage since you have 2 year to use it from the day when you deposit to RCI. So unless you happen to know there is a great deal. Both don't give you free transaction and House keep credit.

By the way, there is a Yahoo user group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Fairfield_timeshare/. You may want to consider joint in.
