As a brand new Wyndham Fairshare points owner, I am thinking about new and interesting place to visit. It got me wondering, what are your top 2 or 3 favorite resorts that are in the fairshare plus group and why?

Glacier Canyon --great place for the grandkids-there was 17 of us there last time

Ocean Blvd--great beach resort

Royal Vista--ditto

Grand desert--great place for a break from the gambling

and many more

codes would be very helpful.

What do you like? mountains, beaches, urban?

I've been to Pagosa Springs, Co., La Cascada, San Antonio, Grand Desert, LV, Sedona, Flagstaff, Majestic Sun, Destin FL. All have been great places to visit and enjoy. I would highly recommend all of them.

The Wyndham resort ID's are listed over on WyndhamOwners.org

Some of our favorites are:
Wyn Smoky Mtns in TN
Wyn Bonnet Creek in FL
Wyn Ocean Blvd in SC
Wyn Governors Green in VA

I also like others a lot, including Wyn Alexandria in VA, Wyn Cypress Palms in FL, Wyn Sapphire Valley in NC, Wyn Flagstaff in AZ and Wyn Sedona in AZ.

But it really depends on what kind of vacation you're seeking.

jercal10- I'm glad to hear Glacier Canyon is one of your favorites! Wisconsin Dells is only a three hour drive from here and we don't have many timeshares in the area. I hope to take the kids there next year.

Thank you to everyone for replying. I love to visit new places. It seems there's something interesting to do everywhere, and sometimes it's so surprising how the most unlikely places have some hidden treasure.

We have been on, and love, many beach, Disneyesque vacations and continue to love them. (I am a heat loving person:D) Now that my children are 12,11 and 9, they have interests of their own that we are looking into such as skiing and snowboarding, my daughter's strange fascination with the titanic;) and historical places such as war reenactments etc. My husband and I Love to troll around big cities and inhale bus fumes after being around farm smells in the community we live in! (With no offense intended to farmers).

Again, thank you all for your great ideas. If it weren't for TUG, I would never have even bought Wyndham points and I am so excited!! Special thanks to Jya-Ning whose posts I have read and read as well as Timeos(?) who will chime in at every chance to recommend them. I just need one more small points package to seawatch and I will be set.

Boy, I hadn't realized this had turned into a novel...thanks for sticking with me.

You are welcome. I usually can accept a wide range of resort. DW does has much less tolerance. But she usually can survive most of the Wyndham resorts we visit.

I usually like the area and a little bit cool temp. I like Newport at Summer, Fort Lauderdale at Spring, Orlando when Disney has less people:p , Williamsburg at fall, and Resorts around the Smoky Mountain around fall. I think Myrtel Beach at end of Spring beginning of Summer prob. will be good, but probably will not be able to test it since my kids are going to school now. I think Atlantic City probably needs to wait till my kids no longer want to travel with me and I probably will still no like that area too much. Although at morning, you do be able to sit in your unit watch the sun jump out from Ocean. I don't see myself fall in love of New Bern or Glade, but they are nice resorts. That basically covered all the Wyndham resorts I have visited.

I do know DC is pretty good except driving the car around. Most museum are free. The Garden are very beautify. A lot of nice building around. During the fall, if you walk around some of the small street, when the sun fall on these leave, it is breath taking. Walk around the potomac river during the cherry Bloosom if you can find a parking spot. They may not have famous shows and big name celebrity, they do have a lot of shows very inexpensive. And th food are also decent enough with all kinds of variety from several parts around the world. However, I do like to take my long vacation at least 4 or 5 hrs away from where I lived.

My favorites are: Bonnet Creek (I love going to Disney and the resort is very nice with lots to do at the resort and around the area), the new resort in Panama City Beach, (it is right on the beach, all the balconies overlook the beach and the units are nice and the kitchen is large) and Fairfield Glade,(a great place to sit back and relax. They have lots of activities and we like to golf at inexpensive courses). However, I don't think there are any we have stayed at and not liked. Debby

what are codes??

For the Wyndham resorts....all resorts have codes for either RCI or II. Since Wyndham trades with RCI it would be those. I tried to look up the reviews for some of the ones listed bye name and could not find them.

Glacier Canyon --great place for the grandkids-there was 17 of us there last time RCI#A212

Ocean Blvd--great beach resort RCI#6777

Royal Vista--ditto Don't have II #

Grand desert--great place for a break from the gambling RCI#6052

and many more

see above
Take care

Hi Jya-Ning: I see that you listed Newport as a favorite. I have been wondering about Newport availability so I have a question for FF owners that are more experienced than me:

Since the Wyndham Newport RI resorts were all (I believe - but might be wrong) originally sold as weeks and not UDI, is it possible to get reservations in Newport using FF Points? Summer or just Fall through Spring?

(I am a new Fairfield points owner and my points are based at Edisto SC)

Resorts

I have stayed at Fairfied Smoky Mountains, Bonnet Creek, Star Island and Cypress Palms....

In Orlando, Bonnet Creek is by far the best. In a distant 2nd is Star Island then Cypress Palms. If you are going to go there an enjoy the resort the ONLY choice is Bonnet Creek, but if you are going to Orlando to enjoy the parks and just need a place to sleep, save your points and go Cypress Palms. Star Island is somewhere in between and I would stay there again.

I like Smoky Mountains BUT it isn't in Gatlinburg, and it's a bit of a drive (20-30 mins) to get to "The Strip" on the mountain THEN you have to park. As I will be living in TN in a few years, I may look to purchase a week at Crown Park resort on the resale when they start popping up.

Thank you for all for your information. It will come in very helpful when planning trips for my family. There are so many!! That's wonderful, but it gets my head spinning (ok, that doesn't take much sometimes, I'll admit). This will help me narrow down a bit.

Anybody vote for Ocean Walk in Daytona???? I Haven't been there - but it seems to get a lot of good buzz

I have been to ocean walk twice this year( most recently last week).
It's a nice resort loaded (and I do mean loaded )with kids in the summer.
For us nice beach and good golf not far away. Also 2 & 1/2 hr deive from home.

I was there last week (July 10-18). I rented from an owner for three days and exchanged a week. Great place!

I was expecting huge crowds, but we could always find a place to put our things at the pool, and could always get a tube for the lazy river within a few minutes. Many times it seemed uncrowded!

I had heard terrible things about the elevators, and they were slow (definitely not enough for the size of the resort) but not as bad as I was anticipating,

I would highly recommend the resort

Wyn Old Town Alexandria VA (metro DC's closest timeshare facility...close to Metrorail...what's not to like?)

Wyn's Kona Hawaiian Village on Big Island...unique Hawaiiana styling, and they even have have a stereo and CDs of Hawaiian music in your 2 br villa. Loved it there!

Wyn's Waikiki Beachwalk on Oahu...comfy, stylish units and great location if you're going to Oahu.

I'll be going to the new Wyn in New Orleans in Feb and can't wait. I hope it's nice cause I like the location alot...and I love going to NOLA for the Krewe of Barkus parade every other year or so. :whoopie:

We had an excellent time at the WorldMark in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. We also had a pretty good time at the Longwarf Resort in Newport, Rhode Island.

Our favorite is Ocean Ridge at Edisto Beah SC, but it is QUIET - great beachwalking, though.
maybe you want more entertainment - if so then OceanWAlk, watch out for the front desk service though - they have lost their Gold Crown status, (last I knew).

We also love the PLantation near Atlanta, but very difficult to get into - also a very QUIET place! but lake! and of coruse, all the sites in Atlanta.

summervaca:

Since you are in Minneapolis, may I suggest our favorite timesahre of all that we own (despite that we LOVE Wyn places) would be Telemark up in Cable, WI, about 4 hours from you and you should be able to get an exchange for a 28K RCI deposit.
