A dog is man best friend. Show your dog Love , and you have a friend for life.IMO.

I miss my Felix - GSP. We go home from Australia Saturday.

My German Shepherd, Duke and I were inseparable for more than 12 years. I would often walk him in a deserted park sometimes as late as 2-3 am without fear knowing he was by my side...

Years ago when our beagle Zeke was still alive and Cliff was working past midnight, our good dog took up position outside the bedroom door that led to the patio. No idea what he was guarding me from, but his occasional low growl freaked me out. Large hillside behind us with a trailer park at the top, regular neighbors to either side, but someone must have been prowling. Lord knows if it was a skunk he'd get right in its face and we'd all suffer the consequences.

I miss having dogs but not the work. Someday we will get another dog, but not yet as we don't want to be tied down, even though we essentially are homebodies. Have to see what our lives will be like now that we are moved and retired.

Interesting show on PBS... NOVA, last night.
It explained how cats domesticated themselves but retain a wild-side.
Humans attracted rodents to their food storage, which attracted cats.
Although bred as domestics, they still have their hunter instincts.

It's their penchant for independence that makes me a dog person.
