I have 42,000 points that expire 12/31/2013, and 40,500 that expire 2/8/2014.

I'm pretty much a Wyndham newbie, so I'm wondering if I just let these float off into the ether, or can they be combined and deposited into RCI? No time for travel before 2/8. :(

Thanks in advance.

You can deposit both of them in to RCI as one reservation transaction.

Thanks! Does this have to be done via phone, or can I do it online thru Wyndham's website?

Your Points expiring in Feb. are these bonus points, discovery points, or RCI points. The expiration times for Wyndham Points are dec 31, mar 31, june 30 and sept 30. so curious about points expiring in the middle of febuary.

Copied from my points summary - they're expiring credit pool points:

Dec 23, 2013 Feb 8, 2014 Credit Pool 40,500 77

Regular and Cancelled points can be deposited into RCI, but I don't think Pooled points can. What I would do is try to see if you can make a booking with those few pooled points before they expire, and then on the same day cancel the booking. That will turn the pooled points into cancelled points. They can then be deposited.

To do this in one day I think you should do it on the phone. Maybe things have changed but in the past the cancelled point would not show up in your account until the next day.

They won't show up online until the next day, but they will be available to use immediately.

I am thinking that the only way you can use them is to call a rep. Can you use them online if you can't see them?

Cancelled points are available immediately

The point balances on the "My Membership" -> "Point Status" page are only updated during the over night batch cycle -- thus this number normally represents your "start of day" numbers and does not reflect any reservations made or cancelled since the "start of day". It's usually updated each night, but not always (especially seems to skip updating on Saturday nights).

Points from a cancelled reservation are available immediately (although sometimes they may not return to the use year expected and that could cause you trouble and you may need a VC).

When you cancel a reservation, you can check your available points 2 ways:
1) Select to book a new reservation, the first page of the booking process tells you how many points are available (and how much are needed for the reservation). Just don't finish the transaction.
2) Go to "My Membership" -> "RCI Exchanges" -> "Request to Deposit My Points with RCI" -- This will show you your current ("real time") point balance by use year. (Again, just don't make a deposit).

Neither of the above methods tells you regular vs. cancelled points, but it will give you an accurate point count (I prefer option 2 as the use year may be important to know).
