Hello Tuggers. While the world was ending over the last several years, I completely neglected and ignored my timeshares (other than keeping current on management fees), and also let my RCI membership lapse. I know I had a collection of points/credits available in the RCI account, but they certainly have expired by now. Does anyone have any experience renewing an expired RCI account, specifically, would RCI be anxious enough to re-sign an old expired member, that they might cut me a deal on membership fees, or better yet, make me an offer to reinstate deposit credits? Also, I think I was Platinum, is that program still worth the additional fee? I was never really sure I was getting my value out of that program. Any other changes at RCI that I should be aware of? I know that an RCI rep is the definitive place to get these answeers, but I'd like some impartial observations before I call them. Thanks in advance for any insights... Roger

I literally just dealt with this today. RCI will reactivate an expired account, but you need to contact them, and pay a $49 fee. They sent me this email this morning:

"Our records indicate your membership expired [two years ago.] When membership fees are more than 120 days past due, the account can no longer be accessed online. Please contact a Travel Guide at 800-338-7777, or Chat with a Live Help Specialist at www.rci.com for assistance with reinstating and renewing your account. A $49.00 reinstatement fee applies. Once the account has been reinstated, you may purchase a 1, 2, 3, or 5-year membership renewal package. You will then be able to search for your next vacation.

The current renewal fees are:

1 Year - $99
2 Years - $179
3 Years - $249
5 Years - $399"

Good luck!
Dave

Dave, thanks for the current info. Did you have any expired points/credits, and if so, did they offer any way to reactivate them? Thanks again... Roger

RCI doesn't cut deals for rci points members. If you let it lapse you may even need to pay a $199+ reactivation fee if you want your unit to remain in points. If your point hadn't expired they might reinstate those or reinstate for the normal extension fee if they have expired.

If you don't care and go to weeks they may cut you a 1 for 2 or 2 for 3 deal or they may not.

I didn't speak to them. What I quoted was from the email they sent me today. No deals of any kind. But as @tschwa2 says above, Points people are treated differently than Weeks people. I'd suggest contacting them, see what they offer, and ask for what you want. Can't hurt. Just know (based on the email I received) that if your account is more than 120 days expired, all bets are off.

RESOLUTION:

I mispoke, I am a weeks owner, and each week is assigned a specific trading power (TPU), which I was incorrectly calling points.

I got 3 years membership for $248, 3 years Platinum upgrade for $141, and 107 long expired TPUs reinstated for 2 years forward for $239; total $628. No reinstatement fee, I think the 3 year membership and Platinum status are regular price, but the reinstatement of the old TPUs was an exception to their policy, and the reinstatement fee seems very reasonable. So, $628 gets me back in the RCI trading game for 3 years with some TPUs to throw around.
