This morning my wife mentioned to me that her sister was going to attend a meeting that was promoted as an informational about a Class Action lawsuit against HGVC related to non owners staying at properties. Obviously, my TS Scam radar went off and I quickly found some Facebook and TUG posts that exposed the truth to her. The crazy thing is that they were holding the meeting at a local Hilton Hotels branded property. I've attached a partial screenshot of the invite confirm.

Yeah, these things are scams but smart of them to use a Hilton. Makes it look legit. Maybe you can reach out to the Hilton manager and let them know. They may not be aware of the real focus of the meeting

This is quite common. I get calls and mailers all the time to attend a free dinner with a talk about how they can help me with our timeshare. They hold these at local hotels because those hotels have the conference space.

It may, but is unlikely to, help. The hotel manager is employed by the owner of the property. While the hotel is branded Hilton, the owner is independent and often a large conglomerate or REIT. They want revenue and renting meeting space is easy money. The Hilton hotel company is not related to the HGVC company other than their license agreement. I do suspect these exit outfits pick hotels to try to confuse their guests but they also have many other timeshare owners that come that don't even own at a brand that is affiliated with the same brand as the hotel.

Just a typical traveling timeshare exit company scamming people.

Use acronyms so people don’t know who they are exactly - check.

Lie about a fake class action lawsuit - check

Have a phone number that comes up to no business on the internet - check

When googling the phone number, I find a similar question by a Vacation Village owner. The scammer used the same class action lawsuit lie. The owner attached a correspondence which was identical to the OP’s. However, the person signing that correspondence was not with “CPG” but rather “PRA”.

FYI Hilton is allowed to rent timeshare units to non owners via their Hilton dot com web site. It's in the club rules, and of course they can do anything they want with the units they own. So there is no basis for any class action.

Absolutely correct but for the newbies who may be reading (and those that may believe the scammer’s claims), Hilton is not taking owner’s weeks and renting them to non-owners. Hilton is renting those weeks that owners have swapped for Hilton Honors points.

It’s obviously an emotional hook that the scammers are using. It’s nice that they request all owners attend the meeting and bring any deeds + MF invoices etc….im sure those are vital to the “Class Action” /s

It probably works for uninformed owners that don't try to book until a couple of months prior and find nothing is available, but see available units on Hilton web site. TUG members are savvy enough to book home season or right when club season opens.
